I'm swaping out an H42 with a used H41. Opened the H41 up and found a spring from the #1 synchronizer ring subassembly on the bottom of the tranny. Everything else looks good. Checked two H42s and they did not have any of these springs. Two questions: 1) Can these springs be replaced? I can't find a part number or source. 2) Can transmission be used with a missing spring? Thanks
 
#1 synchronizer ring.

Are you referring to first/second gear, or, are you referring to the synchronizer closest to the front of the transmission input shaft?
 
It is on the output shaft. FSM references it as the "synchronizer ring no. 1 subassy"

is it my inagination or is there a couple of teeth missing from the gear furthest right? just above middle.
 
No. All the gears are in good condition. Not a great picture.
