I'm going to 33's this weekend, and have it narrowed down to these two tires. Goodyears are a bit more expensive, and the reviews are good. I can't seem to find any comprehensive reviews on the st/c, however they look aggressive and meaty. Can't find anyone saying anything bad about them.

They are going to see pavement, gravel, mild rocks, more dirt roads then you can shake a stick at, and probably a fair amount of mud, despite my best efforts.

What say you, mud?

I have a co-worker that ran the ST/C in a 285/75 and loved them so much when he went to 35s he bought another set. I ran the duratrac's in a 285 before I went to 35s and they were a great tire. My only complaint is that I thought they felt a little squirrelly on the freeway, seemed to want to wander more. Otherwise they cleared mud and snow great, never had a failure.
Either tire got 50k plus miles with proper rotations, balance, and air pressure.

Heck I have almost 50k on my STT's and still have a lot of tread left.

Thanks for the input. Sounds like they are fairly even. I'll probably save some money and go with the Coopers.

If you drive in winter conditions, the Duratrac wins, hands down. If not, it may be a much closer race.

I would say I prefer the 255/85r16 size over anything available in the duratrac, but, I might sacrifice with a little wider tire to get the duratrac's. They are the better of the two all around IMHO. But both are great choices (go with 255/85).

From what I have been able to glean, the Duratrac is a great winter tire but the sidewalls are thin. I would wheel the Coopers...actually, what I did do is buy the 33x10.5 Toyo Open Country MT's...heaviest, strongest sidewalled tire I could find in that size...
