Just curious, are the body panels/hood steel or aluminum on the LC 250/GX 550?

Have seen this for the GX. Assume the same for the 250?

I posted in the LC vs GX comparo thread. I stopped by a Lexus dealership today on teh way back home from an MD App.

1. The payload read 1380 minus the 8 lbs yellow sticker, then 1372 lbs.
2. It was a premium model.
3. Deposit is $2500 refundable. You can pay with credit card. The deposit goes towards the price of the car.
4. They DO NOT market adjust it. Company policy. Salesman been there for +22 years. For the OT I want it was about $74k or so, the MRSP with the ad ons. I am assuming they do make money on the ad ons too, but at least they are clearly stated what they are and at least you are getting something from that extra money spent.
5. They have a big waiting list. He showed me. He also showed me folders with clients names and deposit payments.
6. Lexus is doing 40% of their current production in OT's and OT+'s. He showed me the %'s per model, just couild not remember the rest.
7. Above #6 info is important to when I could be getting mine should I choose to make the deposit and be in the waiting list. Since the model I want is OT, and Lexus is making 40% of the GX's that model, then mine would be sooner. Also, being open to color (s) helps to get one sooner. He said very specific models about a year, in mi case, maybe 5 months.
8. I am/was under the impression that if I were to leave a higher deposit, maybe up in the list. But I might have misinterpreted that, so let's say I am 1% sure of that statement, but shall I decide to go for one, I will ask.

I am overall VERY impressed with the professionalism of the salesman and if I decide to buy one, I will give him my business !

As for the GX550, unfortunately not a test drive. The car is beautiful. The design lines are very nice. The materials are nice. The front panel is weird, too "computer tech" for me and will take time to get use to it. The space internally is definitively reduced vs my current LC200 and the LC100's; it feels more like a LC80, both in the lenght and width dimentions, internally; meaning that on the shoulder side of things and legs, feels less than my lc200. I also noticed that the driving position has way less space than the LC200/100 at the feet: example, you can rest your left feet next to the break in those but not in the GX550, you pretty much have to put your foot in the resting ramp or whatever that is called. The overall cabin feels smaller, kinda LC80 but I felt more cramped. When moving to the second row after testing seat position in both driver and passenger, it is nice back there but definetively more LC80 leg wise, and the roof is closer than any other previous gen.

VERY beautiful truck ! I just need to test drive it !

Cheers y'all !

I live in NC and I see Danville, Virginia with incoming Land Cruisers but no dealers in NC. Is Southeastern Toyota delayed getting Land Cruisers for some reason? My dealer said maybe August.

I test drove a gx today and was quite impressed. Blows my old 80 and 100 out of the water in terms of power and drivability- it’s not even close. I also felt the interior was similar size, didn’t feel smaller at all, and I actually felt I had more leg room in the drivers position. The hood was a little odd though, I think that would take some getting used to, as it has a weird shape and makes the front end seem really long when you’re driving - plus the sloped fender shape from the hood. You’ll see what I mean the minute you sit in it and start driving, although you get notice it less once you get going.

I really liked driving it and have no hesitation waiting for the trim and color I want. It’s a really nice looking vehicle and I think they have a winner on their hands here. It’s definitely not cheap, and I don’t like how the dealerships hype it up as some hard to get so you’ll be privileged to get one thing. It is still just a car, but paying a premium to be first in line isn’t necessarily the smart move in any event.

Thanks for the notes. Any comments on wind noise at hwy speeds?

I guess I should have said allocations. Theoretically ADM could be added on when it arrives, but most of the allocations on toyota.com/search-inventory show ADMs if they have them.

I've only seen a couple of secured allocations, but I don't think I've seen anyone on mud yet say they agreed to an ADM.
In my local area ADM for the GX is currently $3,500, but started at $10,000. Like an earlier post, dealers will start high and happily sell to anyone willing to pay that price regardless of a waitlist. On the Land Cruiser, ADMs are anywhere from $10,000 to $2,500 depending on dealer and model. Unfortunately a majority of Toyota dealers in Oregon are part of large corporate ownership groups making finding someone willing to sell at straight MSRP difficult. I am on the waitlist for a premium GX and have noted I’m unwilling to pay an ADM. I do have a 1958 LC reserved but we agreed to discuss ADM on delivery. I have also stated I will buy the roof rack and rock rails at MSRP. Late May delivery, so we shall see.

Also in Oregon. Will not pay ADM. waiting on the market to crash and then dealers will deal. Not in a hurry to buy. Waiting for the 4Runner to drop at local dealers.

A big problem that makes the situation worse is the franchise owners families typically get the first pick of the allocations coming in as well. So even if you were first on a wait list, you still won’t be first to get a rig.

A fully loaded overtrail+ at a seattle based Lexus dealership is charging $85k with front end ppf and ceramic coating as forced $2k options. This includes the factory rack and sliders.

Is this what others are seeing in more saturated markets like SoCal?

Just curious gracias.

My local dealer here in NC says for the GX they are doing MSRP plus their $499 garbage paint protection and nitrogen tire fill package.

As long as you're local to Las Vegas, with valid ID, both Lexus dealerships are selling at msrp.

Same in Louisiana. Not negotiable either. Vehicle Protection Package and window tint is an added $1795. But hey, they are not charging over MSRP! :bang:

The dealer add ons are common place here in Texas and the DFW market as well. I told my guy at Sewell that once my name is called for the GX (they typically let you know ahead of time before the vehicle actually arrives) I do not want them to do anything to it other than a PDI. No tint, no ppf, I don’t even want them washing it as they typically use a drive thru automated wash and old, dirty towels.

To be fair they do a good job on the ppf they do install and the tint. Overpriced by a few hundred I'd guess though. They recently didn't bother with the nitrogen BS on my wife's TX at Price Leblanc.

This is my hang up with it. Yes I am going to get tint and ppf/ceramic added but i can get a much better product and application from someone who specializes in that department compared to what dealers typically offer. Make it an option sure, but mandatory? No thanks.
