Just stopped by the local Lexus dealer to ask about GXs. They have a bunch inbound and only half are spoken for. I threw my deposit down on an incognito Overtrail with a moonroof delete. No markups beyond the nitrogen fill and stupid protection s***, which I would fight tooth and nail to remove if it comes to it.

I'm on the verge of cancelling my LC deposit. No line of site into the trim/option combo I'm interested in.
I just got OTD pricing on my Overtrail and they are not marking up from MSRP, but list as non-negotiable the vehicle protection package BS and tint for $1795.

BUILT 3/25

SHIP DEPARTED 4/2

SHIP ARRIVAL 4/18

PORT PROCESS 4/29

DEALER ETA 6/22

Dealer says they always under promise and over deliver so June is very unlikely and an earlier delivery date is more probable. How do I track shipment like the poster above?

Moonroof delete or no?

I don't have an exact date either. The port date for me is similar and he told me expect 2-3 weeks from that date.

Here's an anecdotal data point. I went into a local Lexus dealer last June (6/9/23 to be specific) and put down $1k on a GX, and at the time, I was told I was number 6 on the list with only dealership employees ahead of me. I checked in this February to see if there were any updates and was told 2 had been allocated without a ship date yet. On April 1, I got an email that 2 went to "F" status and should be arriving later this month. I replied and asked about what trims they were and asked about my place in line. The reply I received was a bit frustrating: "You are around 52 on the list, our list is over 300 now so 52 is amazing. I am sure most of the people that have been on the list for as long as you and I have, are probably moved on or forgotten at this point so I am sure it will move pretty fast!"

I will never understand how I moved from number 6 on the list to number 52, but regardless I cancelled my deposit which incidentally I now have to wait for them to cut and mail a check since it's been more than 6 months after the deposit. With the influx of 3 new models (GX, LC, T4R) and numerous permutations of each model all largely similar specs and capabilities on the same general platform, my personal interest has actually moved back to the 200 and 80 already in the driveway. I am also on the list for a new Cruiser from last June (they did not want a deposit interestingly even though it's the same owner group), but based on this experience, I am not holding my breath for any updates or any allocations for the foreseeable future.

I'm sorry that happened to you. I'd like to work at a dealer just for a bit to see what really goes on and how they make a list where someone goes from 6 to 52. Then I'd promptly quit.

I'm also glad to hear that I'm not the only one that got screwed.

I had the same experience. In 2022, when I put a deposit on a LC, I was #4 on the list. By the time I was called about my allocation, I was #13. My dealer does their lists based on the date of deposit regardless of the vehicle it was initially put on. So this means someone who put a deposit on a TRD Pro Tundra in 2021, never got one, and decided to move their decision to a LC, got to push me down the list.

Not saying this is right or not, but that is what they do. Needless to say I was upset, but it is what it is.

This seems par for the course. I got on three lists. First was June 8th (a few hours before the reveal) and was told I was around 20….a few weeks ago I asked for my actual spot and was told 37.

Another dealer doesn’t take a deposit but requested I submit an online form and upload my license. I did that in June 2023. When I inquired last month, they said I needed to re-do the form. No telling where I am on that list.

With the 3rd dealer, I expressed interest and they said their list was over 100 long. Since I was much higher on list #1, I didn’t pursue further. Fast forward to February and I get cold called. I called back and asked “were you calling because you have a GX with my name on it?” Of course they said yes, but needed a deposit. I gave a deposit and they said I was 17th on the list.

Bottom line is that I don’t trust any of them. That’s why I got on 3 lists, I expect them to disappoint me. We’ll see when any of them come through.

Which Denver dealership was this?

I don't want to call out any dealership because I know situations like this are hard to manage. I'm guessing had I made it a big deal or pushed back they may have been willing to work with me - maybe? Instead I just asked for my deposit back and was simply asked for my mailing address for the check. I feel it's the same problem many brands face when they are trying to deliver a high demand product in low supply.

Believe it or not, this time last year I was dealing with the same thing trying to get a new 2023 Prius! It's a long story but I had convinced myself that could replace a Model Y in our family for road trips (I was wrong). Fortunately I sold for basically exactly what I paid for it about 3 months later, and now a year on you can easily find inventory of the new Prius. Hopefully the GX/LC/T4R supply can keep up with demand to avoid games people have to play to get one.

Toyota is really screwing the pooch on these new models. The new Tundra, Sequoia, Taco, 4Runner and LC are ALL carrying baggage. It’s looking like a similar s***-show to the early stages of the new Bronco debacle. I was already losing confidence in my dealer, but now Toyota in general is causing me doubts.

Is this Stevinson West?? I am experiencing the same thing!

Expecting a call within the next few months on mine. I went the opposite way...went from like 30ish to within top 10.

We are also finally seeing the demo vehicles that customers can take out for a spin...was told it was a luxury+. Not my cup of tea but it's there for others to take a spin.

Uhhh - just wait a year until there’s vehicles on the lot. Way less aggravating.

They are lowballing me hard (like $13k low) on my Tundra, so I’m now waiting a year as well. I had a factory order on a Bronco and have been looking at them again. 3 weeks ago (March) I did a build on Fords website, and for giggles, did one for the same spec yesterday. With the new incentives in my area, the lease cost dropped $260 per month! If I had signed on one last month I’d be so pissed right now!

Waiting a year is the best plan now.

Interestingly enough at my local dealer there are several GX available at msrp if you put down $5k non refundable deposit.

I was offered a heavily optioned GX550 premium with a $3,500 ADM. I politely declined but maintained my spot on my local Lexus dealer list. Not willing to compromise at that price point and hopeful as more become available ADMs will evaporate. I still have a deposit down on an ice cap 1958 that is scheduled to arrive in late May.

Non refundable deposit? No thank you.

Non refundable deposit? No thank you.
Agreed. However it is better than 10-20k markups

Hard to put a non refundable deposit down on a car most havent even seen in person

I have been offered 2 vehicles both declined. One was a first edition LC in black and the other was a mid trim in white. Not my colors so I declined but they are arriving locally next week I think. I am #5 in line of deposits at local toyota dealership. You can now see what is coming to our local dealerships when you searach new inventory. It shows colors and trims and price. My dealer is getting 11 and the other dealer is getting 8 first round. Most colors are underground, meteor shower, black and one white.
