Ive always appreciated a good build thread with details on the parts used. I'll try to do my part in documenting my build.

2006 GX470 bought with just over 115K miles, really great shape and a good service record. Seems it spent most of its life in Beverly Hills and Newport Beach CA, but I found it up in Southern OR at a Nissan dealer! I bought it over the phone and flew up the following week to pick it up! I was not disappointed especially considering I was planning on building it up. Below is a list of mods that are done and mods on the to do list. Ill document individual parts of the build in later posts.

Here is where it is today:
  • Floor Mats - Weathertech all the way around
  • Rear Hitch - Southern Style Offroad – “The lightweight hitch”
  • Stereo - Phoenix Android.
    • Still not working perfect, certainly NOT plug and play!
  • Muffler - Magnaflow
  • Air Filter – K&N drop in
  • Timing belt and All fluids changed
  • Front Brakes
    • Power Stop Z23-976, Z23 Evolution Sport Carbon-Fiber Ceramic Front Brake Pads
    • Power Stop JBR975XPR Extreme Performance Drilled and Slotted Front Rotor
  • Rear Brakes
    • Power Stop Z23-606, Z23 Evolution Sport Carbon-Fiber Ceramic Rear Brake Pads
    • Power Stop JBR971XPR Extreme Performance Drilled and Slotted Rear Rotor
  • Front Axel Shafts - CARDONE 665235HD
  • Spindle Inner seals
  • Tires - Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo 3 @ 275/65 18
  • Rims - Fuel Tactic D630 Model D63018908350 @ 18x9, 1mm offset, 5" BS
  • Front Suspension -
    • Fox 2.5" Factory Series Coilovers, DSC and external reservoirs (Fox FRS 883-06-130)
    • Total Chaos UCA (TCS 96504)
    • Wheelers bump stops
  • Rear Suspension -
    • Fox 2.5 Factory Series Rear shocks DSC and external reservoirs (FOX FRS 883-26-004)
    • OME 2" Coils (OME2895)
    • Wheelers bump stops
    • Spring converter from Apache off road
  • Sway Bar End Links - from Dobinsons
  • Battery Tie Down - Off Grid Engineering Tiedown with J-Hook (8" and 10")
  • Rubber Splash Guards (behind front suspension) - Rad Rubber Designs (LEXUS GX470 & GX460/PRADO)
  • Diff Drop
  • Skid Plates - 4 piece from ARB (for Prado 120)
Here is what I still want/need to do:
  • Fix Phoenix Audio (Heat/Air only works on Auto mode)
    • add front camera
  • Sliders - Not sure which ones yet.
  • LED lights and hyper blink modification
  • Tint the windows darker
  • Front wheel bearings
  • Amps, sub, speakers
  • Finally make time to go play with it!

Cheers!

Good to have more GX builds in the SF Bay Area.
Do you plan to do the build yourself? Or do you have a shop?

Looking good. Some questions on your suspension.

On the front Fox coilovers, what’s your spring rate? 600 lbs/in? Or 650 lbs/in?

On the rear, which part number OME rear spring?

And finally, what’s your hub to fender measurements?

Thanks for documenting and sharing.

@Dharma Dude - yes, in the bay area. did the build myself thus far... ive got a buddy that helps me when I get frustrated or worried I screwed something up! its not a daily driver so that took some stress out of it. Had some work done on my 15 Tacoma by Califab in Sacramento. they did the gearing and ARBs. mixed results, but they made it right! Need to make a trip to Hollister and try it out!

@HomersCanyonero . Thanks! did the 600 pound springs. I went a little crazy with my old 1st gen tundra… added too much weight. decided to keep this one lighter so likely no bumpers and such. thinking about a hidden winch but not sure yet. I measure 24" hub to center. its pretty maxed out. Had a shudder after the lift, added the Diff Drop and now its nearly gone. still get some under hard acceleration but not nearly as much as before. I think im going to lower it down a bit.

Wow man, great start! the other name you need to know in Norcal is Gary Mudrak, Mudrak's cruisers in Sonoma... if you ever get over your head or in a jam, etc., good guy to have in your corner.

Do you like those skidplates? I've considered those, still running stock myself.

Wow. You are pretty high at 24”. You are like 3.5” lift. Did you have to extend your brake lines?

@HomersCanyonero Yea, it's a little high :). Looks good with the rear though! I ended up that high because I was trying to make the adjustments after the install. The spanner wrench was no help. I used. 5/8 (I think) punch to adjust the collar. I ended up loosening the screw on the collar too much and started to cross thread! So I pulled out both coilovers , compressed the springs and cranked them up. Should be easy to lower them down a bit though. Lessons learned!

Didn't extend the brake lines... In the to do.

@nakman Thanks for Mudrak's name, can always use a good source!

I like the arb skid plates. Was easy to install, pretty light weight, way better than stock, not crazy expensive and in stock! Checked off all my boxes.
