Beware of what you wish for... I'll be doing trails videos and lots of photography, I have a handful of Pro Canon EF bodies film and digital. A 1, 1N, 1DX II and a 5D III. The 1N is the most ASMR camera to shoot with. Cinestills ISO 50 film is amazing to use. It's Kodak cinema film converted to color photo process.
I used to use Fuji Velvia film with a Canon EOS Elan hooked up to a 400 mm lens for my surf photography, back in the early '90's. Was published once in a surf rag for a surf travel story down in Mazatlan, Mexico in an article my wife wrote. Don't have anything to show since they're all slides and not sure where they are now and I'd have to scan them. Never scanned a slide before, it'll take a little experimenting.
 
I have a functional Elan. That was the camera I wanted when I was in High School.in the 90s. I finally got a working one a few years ago. Great little camera.

I still have it and the lenses. My first trip to Africa climbing Kilimanjaro I carried that pig, a bunch of lenses and about 20 rolls of film.
These days, I normally use my Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, which has a huge zoom and high pix count. But when I travel I use my bridge camera instead of carrying a bunch of lenses. I have Fuji Film Finepix S1. It has a 50x optical zoom lens (35mm equiv: 24-1200mm) and is great for surf pics or when we get back to Africa on safari. Takes great pics and everything is sealed to be dust and moisture resistant, so I don't have to worry about dropping in the sand, snow, or being rained on.

Velvia 50D looks sooooo good with lush greenery. It's probably my favorite landscape photography stock. Skin tones tend to lean a bit yellow though.

In photography school I had access to a Minolta scanner that gave me amazing images off of slides or negative. That style scanner is still pretty darn expensive today, and the crappy slide scanner I got at Fry's doesn't hold a candle to it. But the shot above with the skis on the trunk of my car was scanned from a slide on my cheepo scanner and it worked out okay. A bit of color correction and I'd have a usable image for my photo library. The standards are much higher for pro work, but to provide a hit of nostalgia it does just fine.

Got a new daily driver, edit, will soon have a new daily driver (after maintenance)
Got this from a buddy of his farm in NH, 315,000 on the broken odometer… estimates are in the mid 300s. I’ve had it for almost 3 years on my property, starting it every couple months and driving it around the block. It’s now registered, insured and cleaned out! Very excited to start my journey down this rabbit hole.
She runs and drives, classic cast iron B230 engine naturally aspirated. After the normal engine stuff, and the steering rack I’ll tackle the electrical gremlins it has.
1993 Volvo 240 wagon, manual 5 speed.

What’s everyone’s favorite wiper blades these days? Finally time to replace what very well might be the original ones on my GX
I will piggyback this question to ask about changing the rear wiper. Tips / tricks? I assume run it halfway down and then kill the ignition to leave it accessible? Are you replacing the entire arm or just the rubber?

I buy just the OEM rubber inserts for mine. They cost less than the Bosch or RainX wipers from Pep Boys, look cleaner after install, and seem to last at least as long. I redid mine quite a while ago, and they've held up fine. I got the part numbers from a thread on here, and whatever dealership I ordered from had a 3 pack listed on their site.

question about the slatted overland roof racks - are they suitable to mount Thule ski/gear boxes on as well? versus just buying crossbars?

Had a 1969 Volvo 164 back in the early '80's and loved it, deluxe with all leather. Albeit, it was kind of tired when I bought it, but still ran great and comfortable. Did some epic surf trips down to Mexico and skiing up in Tahoe in it.
Kind wish I still had it.

A college hippy friend has a 144 that i got to drive in the mid 90s. That car was so funky and cool. Loved every minute, including the incredibly hard to read rotating cylinder speedometer.

Fry's was a love hate relationship. Great prices and almost any component for computers or anything else, but I've also purchased some software many years ago that required using a CD to load and it would then burn/register something on the CD so it couldn't be used on another computer. When I went to load the software, the CD had already been burned in. Someone returned the software and Fry's put fresh shrink wrap plastic to look new again, and put it on the shelf.
Very disappointed...

Oh totally, but loved it as a best buy sized radio shack. Only had access to them for a few years.

I was gonna say, look at Mr Fancy-Pants with his five forward gears. Back in my day, it was 4 plus an electric overdrive switch on top of the shifter.

I had a '79 242GT that didn't last long, but was fun while it lasted. My 97 850 Turbo was only slightly longer lasting, but a lot less fun. Both had a tendency to leave me on the side of the road and I've sworn off Volvos. I looked at a Polestar One and had to be reminded that I shouldn't trust Swedish cars any more, especially when they're built in China.
 
Yea from all the Volvo folks.I know the reliability went pear shaped after the 240, which is when Honda and Toyota really got their acts together.
 
Yeah, the early, pre mid '80's were the ones to have. Would have loved a 242!
