Good morning all,

I started my search on the 120 sub form but it became clear that the age of the 470's may become an issue in regard to what I am looking for.

I know there is no black and white answer to this question but within a specific budget (under $20K) would you be more comfortable with a 2010 GX460 w/ 80K or a 2013 w/ 120K? The 2010 in question has recorded maintenance and inspections every 5K at a Lexus dealer.

This needs to be a reliable (given proper maintenance) vehicle for me to carry family, wife and two young kids. Will be mostly me driving a short commute to work but also will be my hunting and fishing rig and while it won't be rock crawling I would like to feel comfortable in any place those two pursuits may take me.

Thanks for any insight!

Nick

Mine has 111k on it and it's bulletproof reliable

I'd go for the lower milage vehicle regardless of age as long as it has been taken care of, it's hard to say without seeing trim level, condition and prices. Both the 2010 and 2013 are Gen one 460's so there isn't going to be much difference between them, a 2014+ would mark a significant change in aesthetics.

I was in the same situation 7-8 weeks ago...looking for a GX 470....age/miles moved me towards the GX 460

Ended up buying an '11 460 Premium w/95K miles....history showed AZ & NV ownership.....plus plus for me...

Found the car at CarMax......had shipped to SLC....no way promoting CarMax...but the deal was purty smooth

Yes..high book $$...these cars 2010-13 aren't that common I found...13600 2011's sold in USA..only 3600 Premiums

So you can expect to pay retail prices.......Not really sold on the '14+ grill front end change...car same otherwise

So overall after nearly a month of ownership.........wife's DD...we both are rather attached to the car.......

Great solid ride.....amazing sound system.....interior is like new for a 9 YO car......

2" Iron Man lift ordered.......tires/wheels to follow.....Yes.....my DD is a '14 Tacoma....:)

In the same boat.

I've been looking for a month or 2 now. I'll be buying a 460. Prefer crawl control but can add. Similar budget to yours but I may go little higher. Looking for lowest miles /1 owner and best service history.

Our 2017 GX460 has over 90k on it. Car drives and feels new. Maintenance history is IMO more important than mileage or age.

I agree with @Tex68w, I would look for lowest mileage and complete service history in your price range. That's what I did.

I know its impossible to say but with a "low mileage" 2010 what am i looking at as first likely, non-regular maintenance repairs, suspension components and anything rubber, boots on cv joints etc? If so, does the standard kdss add a premium from a cost standpoint?

The 460 in question is a base model, so air bags shouldn't be an issue.

It just doesn't seem like any of the more obvious age related issues would cost that much to repair, if im making logical assumptions on what parts would be most at risk?

Secondary Air Intake is a known issue on 10-13 MY’s I believe. I had a 2010 did t have a single issue and I had around 110k on it. Traded for a 2014, drove it the same with no issues and about 90k on it....traded it for a 2017. There seems to be a pattern here lol. Just check the foam filter and do the mod or replace it for ease of mind. These vehicles are pretty much bulletproof

Well, fairly short story after driving the 460 Saturday afternoon.
1. I absolutely loved it, this particular truck had been very well taken care of.
2. Haggled a bit in regards to my trade (2016 F150 XLT).
3. Planned to call first thing today to nail down details and have them consider it mine and remove from the lot.
4. Called at opening to be told it was already sold. Apparently the 3 hours they were open yesterday was all it took, even though it had sat on the lot for a full month. Grrrrr...

Nothing else close remotely in my price range.

That's how it works here in Texas too. They don't last long and you have to be ready to strike on the spot or risk it being gone the very same day.

When I purchased mine from the Lexus dealer, it was so fresh from the last owner, it still had crumbs, parts of toys, dirty, etc. I had to wait a week for them to puff it out for me. They just got it in the day before and were not really ready to put it up for sale yet.
But they did, I pulled the trigger and BANG!!! I got it!!

Some local to me in the Houston/Austin/San Antonio areas for under $20K. You could fly-buy-drive or have it shipped.

Awful wheels but well below $20K.

Had a minor fender bender, hence the front clip popped out, but looks clean otherwise and well below $20K.

Austin, looks clean.

San Antonio, looks very well taken care of. Already has the steps removed and has BFG KO2's on it.
