Hi
How important is Multi Terrain Select and crawl control ? From the forums, I understood it’s not possible to add these later on a 2020+ Gx so the only option is to get luxury trim level. I am wondering if that extra 9k is worth spending to up the trim and add 1500$ extra for the off-road package ?

but with luxury trim, it would be expensive to lift the vehicle for extra ground clearance as well. So it’s another trade off.

thanks in advance.

I posted my impressions on MTS and Crawl a while back. I think they are both very worth while options to have on the GX, but they definitely aren't necessary.

Vlad’s test of adding different skid control ECU will be quite telling if this gets him crawl and MTS on his ’21 Luxury.
other trims will have to add wiring but this could be a breakthrough.

With the lux edition, it's not all about the MT and CC. You also get a lot of other amenities that you may or may not want. So the $9k isn't just for the trail features.
Personally I'd do it. My '13 is the premium edition and wouldn't trade it for a lesser model. Albeit, I don't have MT or CC (yet). But with regear diffs and ARB lockers in both the front and rear, I'm not too worried about getting stuck. ;)

r2m: As you have a '10-'13 model you can get MTS module directly from Japan as MTS module used in these years was exactly the same as Prado. '14-'19 model was not used in Prado.

I paid around $130 shipped back in early '18. This is now probably just shy of $150/shipped.

I really need to do this while I still can...

Thanks for all the inputs. I am leaning towards purchasing 2019 or older and add the MTS and crawl control.

How about the ground clearance. I understand that lifting the truck won’t give extra clearance unless we put bigger tires. Is that correct understanding.

thanks for this suggestion about lockers. I didn’t know that’s a modification we can do outside the factory.

I finally just ordered the M/T from the link you posted on the Adding M/T, CC sticky thread. It's now $200.00. They've really gone up in the past year!
Maybe I should buy a container full, hang onto them for a couple of years and then sell them for $400.00 each and retire!
Thanks Acrad!!

You one funny guy...
With the way things are going, I'll retire the day they lay me on that slab.
