Ok it is all wired up! Works awesome!! Ready for CMCC!! Whooo!!!! Hoooo!!!!

Good deal dude. FYI, with the one I have now, I usually keep my diet cokes at about 1.8 on the dial (basically just short of 2). The fuller it is, the more efficient it is. I love these frickin things. Good deal on picking that up.

Wire used in automotive applications should be stranded for flexibility and the insulation should be gasoline resistent. If you want to go the extra mile get tinned marine wire from Ancor. The tinned wire is far more resistent to corrosion than untinned wire. Solid wire is not a good choice for automotive use, it is more likely to break from vibration and the insulation may or may not be suitable for exposure to fuel and lubricants found in an engine compartment.

I ran a 43L Engel through Rubithon. I was in charge of ice cream for the group so I had it kept at the "Freeze" setting (#5). The 900CCA blue top Optima was dead after sitting for more than one day at camp. A jump was all it took though. I have no room for a 2nd battery.

When you have jumper cables, everyone else is your 2nd battery :D

Where does that green/black mat go?

Dave what was the temp outside, was it inside a vehicle closed up, and were you using a blanket?

Thanks Phil

Ive got an ARB fridge that is wired through a secondary fuze box in the bed of my rig. I have three batteries on board. One is in charge of the fridge and is recharged by a solar panel.

HZJ60, is the setup above on your 60? Where you you keep your third battery? I've been debating a third battery mounted on my expedition trailer so I can run an Engel, but I'm having a hard time finding a good location for it.

Nice avatar, BTW!

Dave was the Ice Cream Man. I had one ice cream sandwich and my son conned him out of 2! It was a cool treat after 4 days on the Rubicon to be eating some ice cream even if Dave's battery did go down. It made me realize that a fridge is my next major camping purchase. My 40 does not have room for 2 batteries either, so a deep cycle will have to do.

I think the days were 85 degrees, nights 55 degrees or so. I made a fridge jacket out of Mylar bubble wrap (stuff you use for water heaters) and it was in the FJ40 bed covered with a tarp all the time, parked under the trees.

Cruiserdrew, it was actually me who pushed the ice cream bar on your son as it was my last one and I wanted to turn the fridge down :) It sure came in handy though when we had to wait for 10 hours on Cadillac Hill. I gave all my half-frozen Gatorade to the broken pinion minitrucker.

Under the wire basket. Mine's green side up.

Ok thanks. That where I thought but was not sure.

Man Im a rebel and I hit the "Shack" for a cig lighter conn and used it to hook up the mac daddy 63 qt unit . out of all the crap ive done this is tame (if not, just lame ) :D
"Nothing like the smell of wires in the morning" :flipoff2:

Hey Koffer, I know that smell well. Either that or my ass :flipoff2:

Wench - the mat goes in between things that are to be frozen and things that are not to be frozen but just kept cold.

On my trailer, I put a trailer tongue box (Delta) on the front which holds 2 105 AH marine batteries, a three stage battery charger, an on-demand water pump, and all my tools, etc. This works out really well. The battery hold downs are from West Marine, as is the charger. I rigged an external charger plug (Marinco), and a 12V cig lighter type outlet on the front side of the box. There is also a ball cock for water from the tank with pressure - for cooking, showers, etc.

Worked really well in my recent three week trip aroung the western states.

Nice trailer!
Is there any more info and pictures of this beauty anywhere else?

One question - Why did you drop the hook down - looks like an after thought

on my 100 with a 33gt ARB I wanted contant power but havn't had the time to run a deditcated wire from the battery, so I taped into the rear dome light(only source of constant power in the rear I could find) its a 10 amp circut so I am OK. I replaced the stock battery with a Odyessy 1700, I have added a 2nd battery but have no yet wired them up. I leave my fridge on all the time, it may sit for 2-4 days at 30-ish deg and will start right up.

When I wire the 2nd battery I will add an aut fuse panel and run a 10g wire to the rear(like I did on my 80)

I have noticed that the new 33gt does not cool as well9I need to run it at a higher setting) as my older 45gt(or whateve it is) this might be because of running off the dome light circut.

On the 80 I just use the cig lighter. I have a 40qt and turn it on #2 while traveling, and on #1 overnight. I just leave the key in the "on " position. It does not use much juice on #1. I ordered mine online from a Suzuki Samurai site (rockcrawling site) and they were a lot cheaper than anyone else. Sorry I can't recall the name. I love it and wish I had bought one a long time ago. It also has a 110v cord so I use it in the garage also.

As DD mentioned it's supposed to have a straight power source and no inverter. The fridge has an inline fuse and a blade fuse. I bought a secondary power source/cig and put it in the rear and ran + right to the battery and neg to body ground. I can run my fridge on 2.5 for about 3 days before I can't start the ole 3B with dual yellow tops. :)

Search the forums for dealers and or deals. :)
