hey guys I talked to the people at Doug Thorley on a group buy for headers. They are cool with it for us fo purchase on an individual basis rather than the actual group buy where someone collects all the money etc.

They offer short and long headers. The shorts are a direct fit and the long requires a full change to your exhaust.

Any interests?

How many hp are claimed?
25 for short and a little

The short does not based on they will bolt right on to he existing cats. The difference in performance is a bit. The short tube increase by 25hp and 30 torque as the long tubes increase by 35-40hp with 45 torque

CARB compliance?

^That might be good enough. With them being hidden down low, there's no real chance that a visual inspection will catch it anyhow.

Can't seem to dig up much reviews on these. Even in the Tundra world? 35-40hp, even if it results in a real world 20hp, is pretty big for NA tuning.

Interested especially if they are CARB compliant. I highly doubt long tubes would get approval. The shorty header design generally Doesn’t alter the Factory exhaust route and can get the sticker however I am not aware of any long tubes that are compliant in the state.

Those increases are substantial especially for a shorty type with stock cats. Seems too good to be true. Any independent dyno numbers to confirm their numbers ?

Anyone seriously considering running these needs to factor in the cost of a very high quality “functional” (not aesthetic) ceramic coating to avoid adding a ton of heat to the engine bay, which slowly destroys everything that isn’t metal.

“White lightning” by swain tech would be a good starting point. About $375, though I’m not clear on whether that is for one header or both.

According to their site under the notes section they come ceramic coated for reducing under hood temps.

Do these come with catalytic converters? If not, you'll most certainly get a CEL.

Edit: never mind, the catalytic converters come after the headers, in which case their increased hp numbers are most likely optimistic.

They told me that they can do it for $650 with free shipping. That's a pretty sweet deal.

Compatible with SAIS?

I'm told by them that the short tubes won't cause the CEL. The long tubes would.

The short tube directly fits with the factory exhaust

The long tube headers might produce close to the advertised hp numbers if they eliminate the catalytic converters. The short tube won't achieve anything near the advertised hp numbers if the catalytic converters are left untouched.

Technically a 1 degree drop from bare metal is “reducing under hood temps.” For a meaningful drop in temperatures or to get anywhere near stock temps with their sandwiched heat shields these would need a thick functional coating like what swain tech does. These coatings are inherently expensive, and that’s why most headers that aren’t very expensive already don’t have them.

Ok. Bump. Trying to make sure anyone that is interested jump in the conversation so I can tally an amount to let DT know. I might 2 so I can have both my 5.7s with these.

If the power gains are correct and NO CEL, I’m game!!! I live in Lake Elsinore so I can just stop by and pick them up
