Well after driving I-70 and going up and down the various passes from golden to vail and the upgrades in Utah, I can say i've noticed the truck doesn't kick down to third to maintain speed as much.

We just got back from Sacramento and this was the first time I've got to feel them at sea level: Quite impressive! If I could only get that HP gain at 5,000' without going forced induction I'd be damn excited!

Impressive indeed! Acceleration is much much smoother and after a 200 mile drive, there is definitely less heat under the hood. I usually stick a hand in the wheel well where it used to be so damn warm, is now a lot cooler.

I have noticed a noticeable dip in my avg. mpg. From 17.2 to about 16.8. Wondering if anyone has noticed similar or even an improvement in their fuel consumption. I just had these installed a few days ago too.

would you have noticed an unnoticeable dip? :flipoff2: I think it might be from you wanting to feel the power. I havent lost any mpg, or should i say gained gpm.

I want to get below sea level, see how the truck pulls then!

Well the first couple days of test driving with the headers resulted in fewer miles out of the tanks. But I attributed it to all the pedal mashing fun :). Yesterday we drove 320-miles and I definitely am getting fewer miles to the tanks than previous. But we did have a constant deluge of rain and high winds to deal with that certainly increased fuel usage.

I do remember when I replaced my O2 sensors a couple years ago it took a while for the MPG to come back up; I was surprised I didn't get an immediate improvement in MPG. I wonder if disconnecting the battery for 30+ minutes would help?

Lol, shaddap. I just noticed that. But ya, it'll have to re-learn the new hardware.

For the mountain boys, you really need to get down to sea level to get the full experience. It's like driving a new truck.

yes, it is. Problem? Lower elevations dont have fun terrain!

^^ Try Death Valley, CA. It has some fun terrain (fall and spring) and I hear that it is pretty low. ;)

Should be an absolute blast! We used to run wild horses there, when I was a kid. Great place to visit!

Tech - That locale has some great mountains still below sea level that will give the 100 a treat to devour! Have a great time!

In three words: It hauls ass!

Definitely notice the power increase more at/around sea level.

Yeah same experience here...for those that dwell at sea level the header project is very worthwhile IMO even if you don't have cracked OEM manifolds!

agreed. If you live at 5000+ it does make everything a little smoother but not nearly as much of a bump in power :meh:

Sweet! I am in. Just got off the phone with Nick and will be picking up my set this week. Nice work all involved in making this happen!!!

will these headers be available in the future, say, if i dont have the money for them now but would like to replace mine at some point?

Call Nick at Doug Thorley Headers and ask...

Are these still available or is the group looking for more forum members to add to the list? Add me to it for an immediate buy.

Nick, at Doug Thorley, originally told me they were going to be available as an over the counter type item after the initial group buy/run was made. I'd give him/them a call if I were you.
