Hi guys, I just broke the batteries on my HJ 60. I had to remove them (plus fan shround, plus aircon condenser, plus dryer, plus fan, plus belt) to remove the radiator for repair (it had sprung a leak).
Anyways, to make a long story short, I know that the terminals had some arcing within them, and were somewhat corroded. In my usual gorilla fashion, I yanked and twisted at one of the terminals a little too enthusiastically and...pulled the whole thing out.
Damn, never knew that post was that long hahaha!
Anyways, after much calling around, I found that the best bet for a pair of batteries was the Nautilus brand from Cndn Tire, which were $114 each. And from searching on 'Mud, i KNEW that the correct size was Group 27.
Problem is, how the heck do you secure them down? The hold-down on the coolant reservoir side has literally just a few threads in and I had to use a carriage bolt and nut config to hold the other side down. And then the air cleaner side...geez, same problem.
And looking across the top of the car from fender to fender, it seems that these batteries are so high, they must be touching the hood!! Yikes! Am I missing something here? Perhaps I should've gone with the Group 24s instead...damn, they were only $109 each I think.
