Hi all,
We recently installed the GROM VLine VL2 system for CarPlay Android Auto integration into the factory car stereo of Toyota Land Cruiser 2010-2012. Here is step-by-step install video:

We show how to connect the system to the back of the stereo and display and how to route the cables to the glove compartment to secure the unit there. CarPlay and Android Auto fully integrate with the stereo's touchscreen, buttons, and controls. Here is the demo video:

Two systems are compatible with the Toyota Land Cruiser 2010-2012 for CarPlay and Android Auto integration:

GROM VLine VL2 (LEX6VL2 model) - https://gromaudio.com/store/vline/grom-vl2-lex6.html
GROM VLite VT2 (LEX6VT2 model) - Select Lexus 2010-2012 GROM VLite VT2 Integration System for CarPlay® Android Auto® - https://gromaudio.com/store/vlite/grom-vt2-lex6.html

Let us know if you have any questions, and we will be happy to help!

How does it work for the 2013 LC?
The 2013 stereo is slightly different from the 2012. However, the functionality is similar. It also has a touchscreen, and the GROM VLine VL2 / VLite VT2 systems fully integrate with the factory touchscreen and the buttons.

The compatible model of VLine VL2 / VLite VT2 system is LEX78T, you can check both here:

you can see the demo video here:

The functionality will be similar.

I've just recently installed the V lite in my 2008 after ripping out the POS Phoenix Tesla style unit.
Install was stupid easy and it works perfectly. Should've gone this route to start with.

Have you ever considered making a Wired only/Carplay only model that uses one of the existing charging locations in the car.

I hate having to wirelessly connect/reconnect multiple iPhones when I can just switch wires.

Call me old school but I think it just works better.

I have installed this (VL2) in my 2010 and pretty disappointed with all the glitches for how much it cost.

Most annoying: When put into reverse in backup camera activates as it should, but when put back into drive, it switches back to OEM nav unit and needs to manually be put back to vline/carplay
2nd Most Annoying: It is spotty, at best when used in "wireless" mode, often disconnects, need to reconnect, etc... works good in WIRED mode
3rd Most Annoying: Has now just randomly rebooted twice while driving

NOTE: No bends in cabling, nothing tight or kinked, installed exactly as instructed.
NOTE 2: Have verified, have latest firmware, and checked for updates, none.

If this was in the $300ish range, the glitches would be acceptable, but in the $600-700, nope

Buyers Beware

@gromaudio

Do you guys plan to update hardware and the underlying Android OS anytime? If the hardware is upgraded, will there be any sort of program for existing customers to upgrade?

I have a 2008 LC, is this a different model than the 2006-2009 model on your website? Can I still get in the group buy for a 2008?

The 2013 stereo is slightly different from the 2012.

If you can find a 2012 LC/LX then you're a wizard; none were made. The 2012 MY was skipped, it went from 2011 to 2013.

Mangler,
I believe there is a setting in the OEM head unit* that determines whether or not the display reverts back to the nav/maps screen after a short period of time using the climate, audio, etc. I.e., you are on the map screen, select the "audio" hard button to change stations, and then it flips back to the map after 5-10 seconds. I found it annoying so found the setting to undo that behavior. I don't know if that is contributing to what you are seeing or not, or if you've already tried this, but figured it was worth mentioning in case it helped resolve your issue.
Good luck!

* definitely is on my 2015 LX; can't remember about my 2008 LC I sold

Big thanks to @c4xplsv and @Valgrind for noticing this.

Finally got around to trying it on my 2010 LC and it works perfect and as it should now!

Double checked my included instructions to make sure i didnt miss this step, and it was NOT included in my instructions.

THANK YOU!!

You can use CarPlay wired, if you prefer to. You can also connect the factory USB ports (also not all will allow you to) using the USB retention cable here: https://gromaudio.com/store/vline_accessories/cable-c-vtoyusb.html
Most important when using the wired CarPlay and USB retention is:
1. Keep the total length of the USB cables extension as short as possible.
2. Use high quality iPhone USB cable.

first I've seen this from Grom - so this works for grom vline2 and the 13-15 land cruisers??

Do you mean the integration with the factory USB port? Yes, that should work. Also some vehicle USB ports are not working for some reason, so we cannot give 100% assurance.
However, the USB connection is always available via GROM VLine VL2 or VLite VT2 for wired CarPlay and Android Auto.
For 2013-2015 Toyota Land Cruiser you will need LEX78T model of VLine VL2 system:
