In the quest for my perfect audio setup, I installed a Toyota 16814 radio. This radio is plug and play (using gray plugs) and fits perfectly. Also, unlike the stock radio, it has a cd-changer port. This allowed me to install a USASpec BT-35TOY bluetooth adapter. This has a wired mic for handsfree calls which I found a great place for.

The OEM alarm has a status LED in a switch blank spot. This has a mic on it for some reason. Probably a Toyota handsfree kit that I didn't have. Its behind the cluster of holes next to the LED. Anyway, I dissected the mic that came with my bluetooth adapter and put it in place of the OEM mic using the rubber sleeve from the OEM mic. A perfect fit!

Here it is mostly put together. Sound is good from this position. Might be better higher up, but its not bad. Not totally happy with where I mounted the box, but I'll figure something out. I squeezed it behind the heater controls, but will probably make a bracket to put it where the OEM amp used to be.

Also, yes I know I could have installed a new LCD radio or a heinous looking Scion unit to get these features, but I really wanted something that looked OEM. I listen to audiobooks and talk radio so I don't need a competition audio system.

Was working on this before I figured out where to put it:

Just an FYI the Toyota security mic that you replaced is called the Glass breakage sensor. It would sound the alarm if it heard the sound of glass being broken. Cool set up other wise.

Cool, thanks. I replaced the alarm system awhile ago so it was already cut.

That's some sweetness you got with that install. Well done. I like the look you preserved with the added features. Nice balance.

Thanks! Was going for OEM look and modern convenience. Liking it so far!

Mounted my bluetooth adapter in place of the OEM amp using a bracket I bent out of a strap:
