Anyone know of a place in the Sandy Springs/Dunwoody/Doraville/Roswell/Alpharetta area? I need to test t-case repairs made to stop it from popping out of 4H into 2H. One place I can think of is the parking lot across from Atlanta Country Club on Medlock Bridge Rd - but I figure it's private property and Johns Creek's finest are going to hassle anyone there not in a Range Rover or G-wagen.

Another I can think of are the Verizon Ampitheater parking lots, but I expect them to be gated during non-events.

15-20 years ago I remember northern Norcross still having some dirt residential roads, dead ends mostly. I doubt if those are stlll unpaved.

Thanks, RJ

Unless you know someone that will allow you on their property legally the only wheeling around will be in Beasley or Durhamtown. Might try some of the FS roads in N. Georgia

I had a link to a blog that listed a number of North GA unimproved roads and FS roads. I am trying to locate the darn thing right now.

Are you thinking of georgiaoverland.com? That's a great site, has inspired me to learn more about Google Earth, KMZ files, and GPS wayfinding.

I'm looking for something close, where after doing some work, I can just quickly run over and drop the truck in 4H or 4L just to test - no wheeling or anything like that. A parking lot would be sufficient. For example, Sunday afternoon I changed the transfer case detent springs because the t-case would pop out of 4H into 2H - I just wanted to drive it around a parking lot and make sure I didn't break anything (being a ham-fisted novice wrench hack) and get a sense if the problem might be cured.

I'm still looking - I remembered an unpaved road off Peeler in Dunwoody from a number of years back, when I went there it had been paved. Darn progress of civilization!

Thanks, RJ
