I haven't gotten much feedback regarding my asking price. I know I have quite a bit more into it than I am asking, but also know that doesn't mean it will sell for close to that. Realizing I really want this gone before I leave for a few months starting in October.

Sharing my listing from FB Marketplace. Sad to do it…but not enjoying driving it like I’d hoped. We’ll still have our 100 Series and Tundra so not bailing on Toyota!

Adding the text for those who don’t FB. Sorry about that.

1975 FJ40 For Sale- Asking $16,000.00

If you are interested reach out with real questions. I won't respond to the auto response "Is this available". If the ad is posted, it's available.

I have owned this FJ40 for approximately 2 years. It’s been a fun vehicle, but I am moving on to a 2003-06 TJ Rubicon which I hope will be a little easier on my knees and shoulders. I believe I am the 3rd owner. I bought it from the children/estate of a family that had owned it since the early 1980s and left it at the family vacation home in Crested Butte, CO. The executors of the estate could not find the title so I went through the process of obtaining a title with the State of Colorado. I have a clear and unbranded title that shows 94,248 as ACTUAL mileage at time of registration. Mileage is currently 94,765 (I drive it around town only). The family was certain this mileage was correct as it was not a primary vehicle. The FJ40 has been used as it should be, and spent most of its life running along Colorado mountain trails/roads. The original Dune Beige paint shows scratches and scuffs from a life well lived. It’s far from perfect, but is a very honest vehicle. It has plenty of flaws and you can see them all. It does have the typical rear sill and rear corner rust, spots on fenders, and rear floor could also use some work. Interior isn’t bad, but seats need to be redone (upholstery front seats and passenger side rear jump seat has broken frame). Doors rattle…and need new seals. Fiberglass roof cap had a sunroof added way back in the 80s….it freakin’ leaks (why would someone do this ?!?). Not the best 40 out there, but far from the worst. It’s a good running project. Leave it as is and have a blast with it, or fix the rust, top and redo the interior and have something really special. This FJ40 has character.

Since owning it I have done the following and more-

*Replaced cooling system hoses, water pump, thermostat, gaskets, fan belt, fuel filter, fluids, plugs, wires, cap, PCV, etc.

*Replaced exhaust (Scotty’s Muffler, Grand Junction, CO).

*Replaced original suspension with Old Man Emu parts (Keith’s Garage Grand Junction, CO).

*Replaced all 5 tires with 33X9.50R15 Kenda Klever RT tires.

Additionally, any extra parts I have will go with the 40. I have a tailgate insert new in the box (for use if top is off), spare 1975 rear jump seat to replace broken one, patina white bezel I planned to swap with original chrome which I left alone, extra hubcaps, and other odd bits.

I have invested more than I am asking in the FJ40. I am asking for $16,000.00 cash only, no checks, no strange wires. Prefer local pick up. If you are serious, reach out, and come see it in person. No trades considered…UNLESS it’s for a pretty clean and original 2003-2006 Jeep TJ Rubicon with a manual transmission.

Obviously haven’t cleaned the motor, but a few things have been done. I laughed a bit when I noticed I still haven’t replaced the bungee and piece of wood holding the battery in its tray. There were several creative fixes found under the hood when I bought it…wine corks, beer caps, tape and of course that bungee and wood block which remains as a reminder of previous ingenuity.

I dropped the price to be within a smidge of what my suck it up and keep it number is. I am open to reasonable offers. Still hoping someone out there is toying with the idea of swapping their TJ Rubicon for a 40.

If anyone is sitting on the fence regarding my 40…reach out. I’m traveling most of October and November. I’ll be removing the listing if it hasn’t sold by October. I’d really love to have it off to a new home before that though.

I'm surprised this hasn't sold! If Colorado was a little closer :) (and Canadian dollar was on par)
