I have a Gozzard Fiberglass tub and windshield frame on my rig. I just purchased an Ehsan repo top. Is there any issues I need to be aware of as far as mounting the bows, windshield frame, footman loops ect to the fiberglass body parts? Thanks in advance

Brian

Just postulating but stress points in fiberglass often have inlaid metal (with captive nuts?) or other material (wood) or extra layers of fiberglass to distribute the load more evenly.

This would be impossible to do after the fact but the area I would be most concerned about would be the screws that hold the channel to the top of the windshield--not sure how much 'stress' this area sees with wind and pulling the top tight at the back. Only other significant points of attachment are the rear bows to the tub.

Good luck and post some pics when you've got it installed.

I talked to Mike at Gozzards and he said no issues. I just need to countersink the screws so as to not chip the laminate. If I do screw something up just epoxy it and re-drill once the epoxy is dry. He was a really nice guy and happy to answer all my questions even though I bought the rig with his tub on it and not directly from him. I'm very happy with his work and hope to throw some more business his way when I can save up the coin for some new doors. I'll be out of town for a few days and then on call when I get back but hopefully will be able to install the top after that and will post up pics when I do.
