Anyone use T-Mobile?
Why should I not consider it?
Can it be that bad?
I dont even know what 4G is do I need it?

As many of you know Im not big on text or data but I would like some access. Looking at the latest deal from T-Mobile looks attractive. Right now Im with ATT and I get no to crappy service at my house and need to go outside to use my mobile. So new service is needed from someone. I like the idea if I could get service in Mexico with no need to worry about added cost (<read cheap) for overages.

Maybe now I can get a phone that takes pictures:rolleyes: and start texting

Why not T-Mobile?

Verizon is almost twice the money:eek:

It's admittedly been a while since I had T-Mobile. I remember all kinds of dead zones where I would lose calls. I have also had Verizon and At&T. Verizon has the best signal in the places I typical spend time. My wife and son currently have At&T and there are times my wife has to use my phone because she has no service.

I think I remember T-Mobile having a trial period with no termination costs. See if they will let you try it out, maybe the signal is better than it was when I had it. Money is money and I would like to use mine for stuff other than interweb tweeting phones.

Verizon and AT&T have the best coverages. I have Sprint, and coverage is dismal compared to AT&T; but it is cheapest I've found, so I put up with it. Also just hooked up another off brand because my ZACT is going away; Republic; but they want you to offload to wifi as much as possible. A bit more expensive than Zact/Sprint, but also unlimited cell, text, 3G data for $25 a month. 4G is $40. As far as I can tell, Republic has no customer service - zero.

Must be the new Galaxy 5S (S for submersible). Note he is also flipping off the photographer. Hmm, who else does that?

I have T-Mobile but have had Verizon in the past. For use in metro areas its good. I choose to call it the City Dweller service because outside of city limits its virtually worthless. For example, cross the Verde River bridge on SR87 and service is virtually worthless especially past Bush Highway. Verizon and AT&T to a lesser extent have far broader coverage's.

You should not consider T-Mobile if your needs include rural or remote coverage availability.
Can it be that bad? No, its not that bad for service in metro areas. It is good but not the best.

T-Mobile has some dead zones around the airport and probably others around the city but I'd say overall in town the service is reliable.

Just .02 but I have Sprint, and while it's not great (they took down a tower near my house and now I'm in a radio shadow, behind a small ridge, and home cell service is spotty at best) but pretty much everywhere else in AZ, rural, suburbs, I-10 between Tucson and Flagstaff, and Kalifornia, works just fine. 4 smartphones and tons of data usage, about $250 / month but it's a business expense ;)

Hey Phil you know that Ham radio thingie can make phone calls? Just sayin' for the whole Mexico thing, maybe it's an alternative.

I find my Verizon phone gets coverage in places that still suprise me. I think I pay for that nice feature though when i see the phone bill - not bad, but not as cheap as some of the prices mentioned above.

Plus, the new phones have amazing cameras. Better than any of my aim and shoot cameras sitting at home. After having my phone for a few months, I discovered  that it has many camera features like Landscape, dynamic tone, burst shot, night, high speed shutter for quick moving subjects, etc.

who needs computers, watches, or cameras anymore - its all on your hip :grinpimp:

I found an old Casio (oops) Sportsman watch a while back -- no clue how old it is, but it is analog + digital, and is still working. Accurately. Shows 2:18 right now (2:08 by computer) and that's after 4 or five years. And no - I have not touched it in that time. No clue what type of battery is in it. But I want the same battery in everything else I own.

Changed from sprint to verizon last year. Night and day improvement. In town is much better and I have had very good luck with signals even out in the sticks. Last year had a signal 30 miles north of Ash Fork from the hill tops. Texts took a while but I could pick them up and send them most of the day.

Add to that the apps you can get Phil, like back country navigator (GPS, TOPO and satelite maps) and Torque, you can't go wrong with a smart phone.

I've run Sprint forever with no complaints. 4G isn't happening yet in AZ. Coverage has always been good. The no bullsh!t pricing has always been a big draw for me.

If you're worried about coverage at home, the best way to check is invite some people over with different carriers and see which one works best.

T-Mobile runs many of the store brand pay as you go phones like Walmart and Target. If you want to go with them, I believe the store plans are cheaper.
