Just dropped in a motor into a 62 ( old one threw a rod) and it wont start. Good cranking, good fuel pressure, good spark( new coil) im not getting an injector pulse. I have not checked signal from the distributor yet . I did swap an ECU and a distributor from antother 62 - still the same thing.....Is there anything else I should look at ? Maybe I missed a ground while swapping motors?
Thanks for the input.

Check the plug in the engine harness for the section that goes to the head. It's near the diagnostic port , along the firewall, above the starter... roughly. There are 5 spade contacts in the plug. I have seen a bad contact there prevent the injectors from firing.

Mark,
The only connectors i see close to the starter are ones running toward the tranny. There is a round blue plug just laying loose.I have attached a photo. Is the plug you mentioned round or square?
thanks

Round 5 wire plug. It may be inside the wrapped harness. I will take a look at a harness later this evening or in the morning and give you an exact location of the plug.

The plug I am referring to is right at the junction of the main wiring harness as it goes forward along the passenger side fender under the washer bottle, and the wiring that splits off at this point to route down toward the tranny. It splits off from the top end of the tranny harness about an inch down from the main. The wires that go through this plug join the smaller harness coming through the firewall beside the diagnostic port. and from there go across the firewall to the head/engine

No promise that this is your problem. But I have seen a bad connection here cause exactly this symptom. It can be intermittent too.

Mark,
You have pointed me in the right direction!. After swapping motors, and looking at the wires by the firewall , I noticed the "new" harness does not have the round plug (5-spades) you re talking about.Go figure! Now I m left with a male plug laying useless under the washer bottle. This is not good, especially that I was forced to dump the old motor and I cant swap the old harness. I m curious what the donor motor uses for that circuit. I m almost 100% sure the production year was the same on both vehicles. Maybe I l start a new thread on the subject.......
Once again, thanks.Dave
