After much research I went for it today and got my tires on the split rims which was a piece of cake. Went with 235/85-16's Dunlop radial rover R/T's which look pretty descent for an all terrain tire IMO.

iv always been a big fan of black steel wheels w/the big circles (pro cops series 97, not THAT brand but that style) but those look GREAT! i saw one set that had been painted to match the body and they looked good 2... if i could get a set of those i wouldnt turn them down

looks great! i had a set of Dunlop Mud Rovers once and i LOVED THEM! when i run down my 33" ATs im going to get a set of 35" mud rovers

looks awesome man.... love the tall skinny look..

not sure what the 235/85/R16, what are they in dimensions, around 33 x 10"?

I love the original grey wheel color too!!!

If you don`t mind me asking, what did that set cost you, I am looking to get a new set of rubber, got to fit on stock suspension, tossing around the BFG MT`s (31 or 33`s x 9.5 or 10.5) and the dunlops MT`s, and pro comps.... not sure what I should go for... Cash isn`t really flowing right now either...

Those are roughly 33x9.25. Very nice look. This size and tire is very popular in Africa on safari cruisers. :)

M5driver, how is your beauty doing? I watched your resto all the way through. Yes they are roughly 32" x 9.3", it looks to be a good size for I am running OME 2.5" suspension. I put them on my CDN M101 trailer as well which I posted pics in the trailer section. I bought the set off tirerack.com for around $1100 including shipping for 7 tires. 2 for the trailer, 4 for BJ42 and spare shared between the 2.

it was so much fun attempting this though we were a little intimidated at first then after the 2nd one we were thinking we were pros. Though my tires are rated at max 80 PSI cold, we only put 42 lbs in each, I figured when I take them to get them balanced I will let them put the rest in them? If max is 80psi then what is perfect or recommended?

Hi Rob.

I run the same size tyres with 35 psi as my normal on-road pressure.

PS. Another benefit of the splitrims is that your tubes now allow you drop down as low as 8-10 psi for soft sand. :) (Unlike running tubeless tyres.)

Roberto

We're hoping to see the Mule again this week or next. She arrived in Baltimore on the 23rd and got thru customs (along with all our other stuff) last week, so... any day now :) I plan to post a couple more pix to the old thread when it's delivered to my house. It will not go back on the road until the road salt is gone, tho.

Dan
