Got my first Pig and a Question

Here are some pics of it it's a 74 everything is stock. Now for the dumb question looking at the pics of the engine does this look like I just need to get the gasket kit and put in a new headgasket? Sorry I dont know much about engines but eager to learn.

naww looks like you can just get a valve cover gasket and valve bolt seals and be good to go.

Ditto, though it looks like you're leaking around the pushrod cover as well.

ahh... you have the later model 74 engine which is the pre-2F. Has the same oiling system as the 2F which is nice but the head is a one year only (for the most part) and used to be used for giving the 2F a little more umpf.

I would say steam clean the engine (if you can) and then replace the valve cover gasket. And if you ever need a head gasket only use a Toyota headgasket and not an aftermarket one. Ive seen way to many issues with after market headgaskets.

i fyou use degreaser, use vatozone's store brand...it's cheap and effective. better than some of the bigger name brands. but don't use checker's store brand...it sucks chunks.
