Example: My interior shop quoted me $1000 for a fiberglass/material upper dash.

What would I be willing to pay for a metal fab'd work of freaking art?

Hmm...

Name your price. $1500? $2000? $3000?

Seriously (see above numbers), if said builder was including wiring of dash harnesses, I'd say it would be well worth your time. And yes, I'm flexible even on the numbers quoted above. I'm on the skinny until I get back from Peru...after I return, it's GAME ON for the FJ60!

$5000, $6000...including door panels, qtr panels, tailgate panel?

$7000, $8000, $9000...full custom interior...and I ship you my truck?

3 months, 6 months, 12 months...timeframe doesn't really matter to me. I'd rather wait in agony for her return - in all of her glory, custom fab'd interior complete vs. settling for something I really don't want. I'll follow your parameters/limitations.

Heck...trailering from you to Tor would be much cheaper than sending her from NOLA, lol.

You are out of control! I like it :p

HAHA, Shane . that's hilarious. You must really hate your dash... Hopefully Machu Picchu calms your sole and gets you thinking straight.. 5000.00 is a pair of air lockers installed.. or a kick ass set of front and rear bumpers and roof rack.... even a very nice customized AR10
with your name engraved....

Haha I know 1500.00 "support Obamacare " t-shirts:eek:

OCD-meter going off the scale at the moment, lol. And yes. . .I really, really hate my dash & door cards...and hate is being nice. I've committed to two projects at the moment: MAF tank, Jason's dash & then some build, paint, motor...SHAT, that's four and I'm sure I'm leaving a few out. I'll tell you the degree of madness I have at the moment - I signed on for an extra day at an area urgent care clinic. And yes, those funds will be solely for the 60.

I've long-ago surpassed the financial return on the 60 and on par with my personality, it's go all-in or quit. After the past month +/-, I'm about to see how far the rabbit hole truly goes.

locker - check.
armor - check.
roof rack/tent - on standby.
AR10 - eh...I'll call you tomorrow =)

Obamacare t-shirt = priceless.

It'll be fun. . .hypertension inducing, but fun...

Shane

Lol Shane. Hell you do that I'll hitch a ride out to Wy and escort your rig to Tor's personally.

Is see your thoughts and where you are going with it. Sounds ideal but, How about just throwing a dash cover on it and calling it good! And enjoy driving these bad boys!
Slight cracked dash doesn't hold me back from driving and enjoying my rig!

Its all about ones "personality" and vision.

Some are good sporting a rusty, faded paint, backfiring, mis-matched tire rig.... and others are in several different categories above that. TOTALLY DEPENDS ON THE OWNER and their wallet.. (@woody... there should be an emoticon for a wallet)

Oh yes I totally understand what you mean Jason.

My past builds have gone this route but the 60 is special to me...even more so than my previous builds. I'm attached to it. It reminds me of where my soul resides - out West, in the wilderness, back a few decades ago, and mostly of my father. I could throw a dash cover on it and save some cash but every time I got in her, I'd think...I wish I would've (insert here). I've never lived with the 'wish I would've' or 'let me settle for this' mentality. Personalities/tastes/visions differ - and a I respect the guy that drives the tattered, held together with duct tape rig just as much as I respect the guy that goes all out on a custom, out of the box build.

Besides. . .it'll be a fun experience for all of our MUD members...well, fun for some, anxiety producing for others.

Shane

Just saying... some customers are Levi's/Wranglers and some are Miss Me/Rock Revival wearing people. (SORRY SHANE!!:lol:, Bedazel that $h!T up BRUTHA!)

Bring the industrial, medieval, hammer-slinging, torch-burning, grinder-spewing dash/interior build on. . .

Oh yes I get it. Believe me if I had deeper pockets I would be installing all the goodies.
Instead I make sure I keep them running and get me from point A to point B. Slowly but surely I do get the goodies installed. Either way how ever fast or slow you work on these trucks they are costly to say the least. But that's the price we pay to own them. I'm ok with that

I follow quit a free post and I can say I always look forward to reading what new or what build someone has added to their rigs. Reeves bumpers! , Shane new parts acquisition and that beautiful motor Beno is building . All of them are quite fascinating and inspirational to do something to my truck. Been in this cruiser game since I was 18 and it never gets old .

I said Goss had "project creep" after yesterday... I may just start on a complete "however, it comes together dash" that suits my "state of mind" when making it...

Some say "live right and be happy" I say.... have a creative vision, get a 60 and drink lots of beer!

Come on Shane, How can you possibly build a life of remorse and regret with that attitude?

Man - the only regret I have in our 'leader' in the oval office @ present. Not that I could've done much more than protest but still a regret nonetheless. BTW. . .I have a sneaky feeling you might be called upon in the very near future =)

In that case my biggest regret might be having NOT gotten two S.S numbers when I turned 16. Way back then you didn't get a SS number
until you got a job. Think how easy it would have been back then to have gotten two or even three. That way when they come knockin'...
"Dave's not here"

Pro-Comm CB splitter arrived. I'll try and get my antenna hooked up tomorrow during lunch.

I have decided that since the A/C & Heat controller and a couple other switches only apply to Goss' set-up... I will build a new upper and lower dash. New glove compartment or storage area. I will still utilize the A/C vents and tubing.

I am thinking I will sweep the right side of the steering wheel out to face the drivers seat more. Build a grab bar and raise the PS lower dash to allow for more knee clearance for the passenger.

Built out of sheetmetal and round tube.
