Noted Oaks, thanks for the tip. Maybe I'll have'em dip the whole rig while I'm at it ;)

On another note, Jason has been super professional and a pleasure to do business with! Kept me posted, as he did you all every step of the way.
Here's to great success with your new venture J.
Cheers to Trail Tailor!

Aaron, Thanks for the kind words. I enjoyed working with you as well. I threw in a pair of 7/8" shackles and a set of brass bushings for future maintenance, if you ever need to replace a set (I never did on my last set up.. :))

Decided against working on the bumpers today.... Got more acquainted witht he new bender...Slider runners are done, roof rack is all cut and tacked together. Gutter mounts, slider brackets and ?? for tomorrow. :meh: Maybe some more rust repair.

Good looking roof rack. What is the weight and what material did you use?

Impressive tackling all that body rot too.

Crap ok I am going to have to mark this page.... Have to weld the exact same areas J. Question for you... did you drill out the old spot welds where the wheel well skirt (or whatever it is called) connects to the fender or no? I can't tell if you just cut and it all came apart because of the rust or what not. We just got another couple days of rain and hoping that this is a good precursor to a gnarly winter in which I need to get to the rust ASAP!

G, I cut it completely out. There was nothing there but rust. I cut back to good metal and welded in the good donor inner and the put the outer back over that and spot welded them together, then spot welded th eouter piece to the main body.

Hope this answers your question.

J

Yup that gives me an idea of what you did.. and when you cut the bad piece out you basically use that as a template for your donor piece correct?

Back to the bumpers.. Finished the tire carrier and a few other items on the rear. Got the tube bent for the front... that's tomorrows work though along with finishing the winch mount and some other things.

Waiting on a few specialty items to make the gas can swing out off the ladder.

Johnny-GLTHFJ60, I think this is what you were envisioning on the "tight" to the body tire carrier.. ;)

Cheers

I "loosened" it a tad..... HA!

J

No, I mean it looks really good...but I see what you mean, it must have taken a degree of attention to find the right line, because it really looks nice!

One day...J...when I scrape the cash together...you'll be getting an order from SL!

EDIT: When I look at it again, I almost wonder who is carrying who...the truck carrying the tire or the tire carrying the truck...
