Next time!

This is the second time work has screwed me out of good time with you guys.. I had a menu of lobster rolls with fresh homemade rolls and a few sides, 2000 Kistler chardonnay etc... planned too. But, like you said "next time"... I HOPE!

I'm hoping for next time too. The stars just happened to align for me this time and a little window opened up.

Here's a scratch and sniff pic of Pasquale's frittata for you...

I can't believe the food they crank out in camp!

I saw the post on his frittata and drooled.. I have a country veggie and breakfast venison sausage frittata I make.. If we can imagine it.. we figure out how to cook it via campsite... Once I get the forge fired up I plan on making a few "shortie" loaf trays... Its been awhile since I've hammered out a few of these.., but Dan and Andy will have one or two for the next trip.. I want to try Dan's sourdough on my tray.

Great rig with the cummins conversion to start with and like ALL conversions the small work is what takes time!
I'm going to do a Isuzu 4bd1t conversion in my 62, but I will be driving it for a while till I get what I think is most of the parts! Yea right !

The secret to any FJ is a rusted parts rig ! LOL
Enjoy the heck out of it !

ST, this rig has NO RUST compared to my last build, Marley.. lots of welding there...

Had a few spare minutes and cleaned some more on the shop and started organizing/shelving all of Goss' stockpile.. Took the rear PS door off and aligned the donor..

SLOWLY BUT SURELY HA!

YAK key unlocked all but one gutter mount...sprayed some graphite lube in it... if that doesn't work by tomorrow night...zip disc it is...

Sounds like all of my bumper shells may be ready end of next week... WOOHOO!

Got to spend a few hours this morning on Goss.. Took the OEM roof rack off, the graphite lube worked on the YAK rack lock. So, all the top is clear now.
Started sanding down the DS panels today.. FOUND an ABUNDANCE of BONDO on the panels as well...

I'm a glutton for punishment.....

Eeek. That rust.

I like watching body work. It's so easy... To watch.

Good thing you got some nice panels to patch in!

Holy cancer Batman! Makes me love my slightly dented but unrusted desert cruiser even more. :) I can tell that baby is in good hands though. I had one of those cheesy factory racks as well, still need to find a permanent solution to the plethora of nutsert holes. I assume you are welding yours? I ought to but reluctant to remove my essentially intact headliner... Oh and lack the welder so, just plastic plugs and copious silicone at the moment.

Can't wait to see the finished product!

My rack was bolted in with what looked like sheet metal screws.

I didn't want to mess with the roof or the headliner, so I painted the bare metal edges and then made JB Weld "caps" for them. Been that way for about ten years, new "caps" applied again a year or so ago.

Git 'er dun! :hillbilly:

Ya nutserts with over drilled holes so they just fell in onto the headliner when I pulled the bolts plus sheet metal screws on the runners. Plus the snake blinder holes in the rockers makes for what? 35 holes? Also got a rotten plug from what appears to be former CB antenna...

Me and my amateur welder skills will be watching closely and hoping for lots of pictures.

Cheers
