285's performed very well. More road noise than a worn out LTX but not heinous or obnoxious. Had a chance to put 500 miles on dry and wet pavement, washboard, rocks and powdered dirt up some decent hills (18-20%). So far I think I choose well. This tire with stock 16" LC wheel combo is 82.9 pounds.

Please Note: iPad mount on the dash still attached and going strong. Sorry haters, double sticky tape works.

Looks great. I'm in love with mine as well. A little more rumbly at low speeds than my Terra Grapplers, but hardly enough to bother me or my wife. Not sure if I'll stick with 305's next time around. I'm either going to move up to a 35" tire, or go back to 285's.

do they make these in 315/75/16?

Yes they do.

Also if you buy a set of 4 you get $40 rebate.... if you use the GY Credit Card you get $80 rebate. I did 6mos same as cash on their card to get max rebate.

If you bought those MacDaddy MT-R's they make.... $160 rebate using same scheme as above.

I am liking my DTs as well. Definitley more rumble at low speeds which I like.

Can you give appropriate credit to the caption in your first pic? I mean. Seriously!

HDR Photos? Impressive!

Nice pics!

"some" post in LR. That first one is heavily post edited.

Back on topic, I'm really curious about Duratracs as my BFG AT's are toast. However I'm leary due to the sidewall weakness I hear about. I think it's just too new to know for sure, more people need to run them and put them to the test.

They look great, perfect hybrid between a AT and MT tire.

Coming from AT/KO's, the Dura-Tracs take some getting used to... they are definitely noisier and a bit more squirrelly on pavement, but the off-road traction seems excellent.

I bought them mainly as a "better in the winter" tire... no snow yet here, but I'm looking forward to seeing how they perform.

The top photo actually is not "heavily" post edited... it has some tone and exposure adjustments to bring out detail. If you have an interest in photography I'm glad to talk about it in a pm or another thread.

On topic.... I've heard this sidewall comment before and I' dont think it's very believable. No more prone than any other tire in this class. This tire is not new, just look at threads on Mud that are 2 plus years old. Check out the 80 series posts.

BTW The tire with stock 16" LC wheel combo is 82.9 pounds. (copied to first post as well)

Since you have had it on washboard, how is the ride compared to the stockers. The roads up here are bad enough to make that a major consideration with tires.

Side note, was on your website, you have some really great shots.

I was running street pressure (44psi) so the ride over washboard was a tad rough but I think if you air down to 34 or 36 you would find some pretty good compliance. Obviously these tires are new to me so I will be experimenting with PSI. I'll chalk them and see where the even contact point is. Overall I didnt find them worse than LTX's at similar PSI.

Thank you for your compliment on the photography. There are a few more images from our weekend trip in the Fresh and New gallery.

34 is still high/hard in my opinion for trails. My starting point now is around 28 and even at that I get minimal deflection under load. This is with Terra G's and I deploy at about 6,200ish lbs right now. I had extensive washboards on the last trip and I'd try 23-25 next time.

Speaking of washboard and traction, I'm most likely overdriving the conditions, but I get a lot of VSC beeping on on washboarded corners..

44psi offroad is crazy high and only going to equal an uncomfortable and increase risk of puncture.

With BFG AT's I never run over 30psi off road and air down to 14-16psi when tackling 4x4 trails.

i roll with my DTs around 44 street. offroad, high teens. i love the tires, but they do come with a drawback....since they have more traction and offer more confidence, I tend to venture into places where i need armor that isn't on my rig yet :) i think i'm also getting close to 18-20k on mine and they look to have only worn down maybe 3-4, 32nds. last time i had them rotated at 14k, they had worn only 2-3/32nds.

personally, i'm not too worried about the sidewalls - at least not with the granite rocks in my region. there are a bunch of people i've seen pics of who are running the C-rated 33x12.5x15s on sharp-ish rocks and boulders and they seem fine. sure, they're on lighter tacomas, but we've got E-rated sidewalls

Didn't want to start up a new thread....

I got my DuraTrac's rotated and measured for wear yesterday -- measuring 14/32nds after 26k miles on 38-40psi. That's only 4/32nds of wear/6500 miles per 32nd! Talked with GY salesman and although they haven't gotten tons of feedback yet, he's saying they have been wearing as well as the GY Silent Armors, which usually go for at least 80k on heavy trucks like an F250. Looks like mine will go that far as well
