Biggest thing I found with RHD is whether the spouse will drive it. I got to the point where I didn't like it much but I could live with it because of the trucks good points.

Swmbo drove it so infrequently that when she did have to drive it , she wasn't comfortable, so we ended up never taking the cruiser if we went anywhere that we'd want to share the driving. :meh:

I actually prefer RHD … plus when the dog comes with, it looks like he’s driving 🤣

A driving dog, have you ever heard of such a thing!

Hilarity

Also, another vote for simeos auto… jay will give you an honest and experienced evaluation of any vehicle.

He’s not the only mechanic there…

That’s about as good as you’ll get here in Vic.

It’s even more fun with the recycle truck with two steering wheels. If the passenger is on the left hand side, he can turn his back the road while eating his lunch :D

The second steering wheel is out of sight and people often don’t see it. It can be great fun.

I think I know the truck you're looking at.

Why not consider one of the low km imported 100 series from Japan? RHD is not a big deal; sort of convenient jumping out on the sidewalk side of the car in fact!

I've considered that too... Idk in my brain breaks when I think about driving RHD, lol. I'm sure it would be fine when I got used to it though.. but doesn't the insurance premium go up? My insurance is already pretty expensive because I've only had my G (full license)for about 3 years

I need to point out that you don't live in bc but Ontario. The insurance environments are completely different (I've lived in both). Today most companies in Ontario are dropping coverage for rhd. So if to don't want to end up in facility insurance it's probably not an option especially not in your experience group license wise. I know a few of the guys in Ottawa have recently lost insurance and struggled to find new options.

If you're going to move to bc, then it's not a big deal, but if you stay in Ontario talk to your broker before buying about a specific vehicle and confirm they have an insurer lined up.

Ah, damn. Good to know, and pretty typical of this province to pull something like that.. lol. We are planning to move to BC but won't be for at least a year or so

We did for two years while I was in school. We planned to stay a third… until I was recommended for a position in BC. It was like someone pulled the cork out. Suddenly we realized how much we hated it.

We left after two years, almost to the day, and have never looked back. I’ve second guessed a lot of life decisions, but leaving Toronto has never been one. Moving there in the first place, most certainly, but leaving, not once.

I could live in that North Bay - Chapleau - Sudbury triangle. Some really nice country,
tons of backcountry stuff to do. Yup, would be nice.
