Hello everyone! I am finally ready to get on the LC train. I have been looking and waiting a long time and finally decided that there is no time like the present. Do these things really have a 25 year service life??

Anyway, what is a good price on a 2016? There are a bunch of new ones on the lots in northern Virginia and e lowest advertised price is in the mid 76k range (we are going new for the tax benefits). How low should be expected considering we are at the end of the model year?

Thanks,
Josh

Used ones are in the 75k range .... so if you can beat that number that would be a good start ....

I was just shopping I had a deal for an 15' LX that fell through. I ended up looking at 16' LC's. Best deal on 16' was 8k off with a USAA dealer. Although I liked the updates to the 16' I ended up finding a left over 15' for 16k off and I couldn't pass up that deal. Shop around with the 17's coming out soon there should be deals for dealers with inventory of 16's over the next few months.

Thanks folks, it looks like most places are selling at or close to invoice. I'm surprised his many of these "new" trucks have some decent mileage on them (5-7000) yet the dealers still sell them as new and won't come off the price.

So you got a low mileage 2015 LC for 64k? How many miles? Thx

It was a dealer demo with just over 5k miles. New car from dealer inventory never titled. Just bought it two weeks ago.

I'd expect $76-$78k for a brand new 2016 to be a pretty good deal. Maybe a bit less once the 2017s hit the floor.

Your best deals on a '16 may come a bit later in the year, as dealers want to get rid of any leftover '16 models once the '17s are available, but then there will be fewer '16s to choose from.

FYI- here in Colorado, any vehicle with more than 2000 miles on the odometer must be sold as used according to state law.

I just paid $79K against an $85+ window sticker at a dealer in Richmond. Prob the best new car sales experience I've had. Purchased in June. They'd had it on the lot since early April. Drove down from NoVa.

I was dropping by to check on the "Best A/T tire for the current 200s"

25 year service life? Well, my 1991 FJ80 Landcruiser (built in Oct 1990) is almost 26 years old now and going strong at 275,000 miles............

We purchased ours in the Denver area about a month ago for just under $79K (just over $84K list as it has the Blizzard White exterior and the Remote Start and had only 150 miles on the odo) and good value on my trade-in (2014 LR4 w/ 55K). We considered that a good deal as it is also the Toyota dealer (Groove) closest to us and where we will take it for free service for the first 2 years.

Sheez. I don't know if I have a 25 year service life! I'll be 64 in a month. I'm thinking this may be my last truck.

With these new ones, if a fellow was really industrious and changed the oil and filters with some regularity, a million miles could be done.
Last I saw @DutchCruiser had over 1,400,000 KM (870k miles) on his 100-series.

New 2016 LC in my hometown. Just quoted 75,750 ! Still not ready to pull the trigger. My 08 only has 52K miles. But I'm dreaming.

Just a bit of trivia, and not sure if Toyota dealers are doing it, but Lexus has improved their CPO warranties with new time limit, no miles and I think two years of free maintenance. Haven't read the fine print, since I just got my 2013 last Oct...and it might hurt. ;-)

at 75k it makes me want to upgrade... but really want to hold out for the 300 series :-) ......

Thanks for all the good info, folks. The cruiser I'm looking at has 4500 miles and they're selling it as "new" which drives me up the wall a bit. Essentially, the GM gets to drive it until it sells and they still get to sell it as new?? Any one of us would take a huge hit trying to sell a car with 4500 miles.

Anyway, they are at 75,250 and with the military rebate (I guess that's one benefit of it still being "new") we are at 74,250. Although I can get a truly new one for mid 75's with the rebate, I feel pretty good about the one at 74,250. It's the local dealer which is a nice thing.

On another note, I have only test driven it two times and although it feels like any amazing vehicle I'm still having trouble justifying it in my head over something like say, a Tacoma. I've driven stripped down land cruisers and hiluxes extensively overseas and though they are on the same or similar platforms, the feel of the ones I have driven stateside is much different. How did you guys justify such a big purchase? Spending anxiety!

Personally I would use the mileage as negotiating leverage, especially if you can call around and find another dealer with an LC on the lot. There's not a ton of negotiating room on a new vehicle once you get around invoice price though, unless the dealer is actually willing to book a loss. And yes, a lot of dealer owners drive the new LCs as demo vehicles from what I've seen when I was looking. The upside of "new" is that the warranty doesn't start until the dealer signs it over, insurance is cheaper (at least with Allstate), you can get better loan rates (both from Toyota and from other banks), and Carfax will show it as a one-owner vehicle.

Cargurus.com says it's a good price, for whatever that's worth.

As far as justification goes, you can't, so stop trying. If you buy an LC it's 90% because you want one (and 100% because you can afford one). There's no good reason I bought one instead of a Sequoia, though I had plenty of excuses (felt less cavernous, easier to park in the city, 25 year service life, etc).

Honestly, if you're sweating over $70k, you shouldn't buy it. You said "spending anxiety". These two words should cause you to pause and analyze how much you can afford without causing any stress. Try finding a 2014 LC as it still has a lot of the goodies and depending on mileage should cost you between $55-64k. It never feels good to over extend yourself and I've been there and it really sucks when that new car satisfaction goes away and you're stuck with a huge payment. Not worth it.
