I apologize in advance for asking the question "if it's a good deal or not" because I used to hate seeing dozens of threads seemingly every week in the 100 forum asking the same questions over and over, so I hope this forum doesn't get bogged down with the same tedious conversations!

I am buying a vehicle for my wife, and after looking a 200 first then exploring everything from a GX460 to an Audi A6 to a Subaru Outback, I've come full circle and am close to pulling the trigger on an LX570. Although I like the LC, all the ones I've seen for sale locally have been beat up and command a premium over the LX. To be honest, I like the interior a little better on the LX, and they seem to be much, much better taken care of. I've also been impressed by how almost everyone raves about the suspension on the LX, and since this will be a pavement pounder I'm not concerned about the off road upgrade limitations.

The vehicle I'm looking at is unfortunately out of state, so I would not be able to drive it until I'm there in person. I have been chatting with an extremely helpful sales guy at the dealership however who has been taking individual pics of anything I'm concerned about and texting them over to me. It has by far my favorite color combo - silver exterior with sand interior and is truly in astounding condition. When I showed my wife the pictures she thought it was brand new. It is a 2009 with 86k miles, and they have it listed at $37.9k. It is a one owner, fully serviced (at Lexus dealers) car from the south with perfect history. It doesn't sound like there is much room in the deal for negotiating, and when I said I would be paying cash to see if that would help get a better price he said they could only knock about $250 off :D

Although I think that's a fair price, I love finding great deals. There is somewhat of a premium to be added for one owner clean history, but I'm wondering if this price is just average even with all the "pros" this one has. We are truly not in any rush, so time isn't a constraint that's moving this decision forward. I mostly like this one because the colors are perfect, it appears to be in perfect shape with perfect history, and the price is fair. Where do you guys think this one falls on the "deal" scale?

Joking :p
Oddly enough the '09 LXs here in the UAE with the same mileage and one owner + full service history at the dealers are priced between $43.5k - $45.5k
If you've got full underside shots with no rust, a clean interior (leather+carpet undamaged) as well as no visible damage to the exterior sounds like a great deal.

Check if the water pump has been replaced that's quite expensive to replace and better to be done as preventative maintenance not sure at what exact mileage. Other than that the only thing i could think of that might give you grief is the ahc but haven't heard of much failures from them.

Good luck and keep us posted on what goes down

I think its priced too high

I am in the market (though not buying till next year). Locally there is a 2010 LX, all records, 83K miles, ASKING $38. After negotiating, they would let it go at 35.2 if purchased today. Not your color preference.

But since I live in the land of mall cruisers, there is no rust issue here.

I know I'm such a n00b :bang: :D He's sending me a couple detailed underbody shots, and I'm not exaggerating the interior looks brand new. He even sent close up shots of the rear HVAC controls and they have zero marks. I also haven't heard any issues with the AHC on the 200s, and everyone seems to rave about it actually. I will run the service history to check on the water pump as that does seem to be somewhat common at this age of truck.

As just a single LX data point, I passed on a 2011 with 39K...one owner and maintained by the book per the Lexus website. Dealer was asking $50K and the truck was clean as a whistle. Two things stopped me...inability to remove the third row seats without, apparently, running into hydraulic lines...the main deal de-railer was that the truck was black. My neighborhood is heavily agricultural, and black cars need a wash about half a day after a wash.

:princess: sold a perfect black '94 Legend a month after moving here. ;) She's now driving my '01 LX and loving it. I ended up with a midnight metallic gray '13 cruiser...it's not easy to keep clean, but far easier than black...the LC was just under $50K with 50K miles and perfect maintenance records.

I checked on the service records, and the water pump was done 9k ago at a Lexus dealer. They also put on new tires a few thousand miles ago, and had the brakes done at the 75k service. He also sent me the following pics from his phone of the undercarriage which looks excellent along with the up close shots of the front seats:

Looks great, priced fairly based on what Ive seen in my area (south). LX/LC that are over 100k are in the 33-35k range listed, so at 86k this is a fair price especially if it needs no service or tires for awhile.

i paid $40k for my 2008 LC that had 99K on it. Although it had a s*** ton done to it and was mint. I felt it was reasonable price for a truck i'll keep for a long long time.

It sounds like it has all the right stuff as far as ownership history, maintenance, rust free, etc.... The price seems to be pretty good to me. I paid 39k for a mint, one owner, rust free 08 LC with 70k a few months ago. I had to have it. But the main reason I bought it is because it was Super White, and I only wanted that color. I would have probably paid $35k for a white one with 125k if I would have found it first. But there just weren't any.

Im of the opinion that if you are in the market for a particular car, and you have a particular color preference, and you find one that has all the good history/maintenance/rust-free, and it is somewhere even close to the price you want to pay, AND it is the perfect color combo, then I think you would be stupid not to buy it. I would think silver on tan would be a hard combo to find, most silver LXs probably have gray interior, no? There are more LXs than LCs out there so maybe not as hard to find in an LX, Im not sure.

The worst thing is when you spend a bunch of money on a car that you are going to drive everyday, and its perfect except for the color and you are reminded of it every time you look at it. Buyers remorse, you will never be fully happy.

That truck would probably bring 35k+ at dealer auction. The difference between a good deal and a great deal isn't all that much and if this one is everything you want, you should just buy it, you'll be glad you did.

Here are some recent sales of 09 LXs at dealer auction, price plus buyer fees of about $500

09/23/15 MINNEAP $34,500 106,950 WHITE
09/24/15 TAMPA $25,200 135,533 GREY
10/02/15 PA $32,750 98,562 WHITE
10/06/15 GEORGIA $38,890 73,785 Black
10/15/15 FRDKBURG $37,200 67,151 WHITE
10/21/15 DALLAS $33,200 93,669 SILVER

No idea, it might pop up out there somewhere soon, or the buyer who bought it could have already had a buyer for it (does that make sense?)

I bought a Silver LC and it was actually the least favorite of the colors i wanted. Would have loved a Red or black, however, it was a one owner, meticulous maintained and was modded exactly how i wanted it and would have done it.
Would I rather have another color? yes.. Would I want a different land cruiser? hell no...

Modifications kinda change the equation there. You obviously weren't dead set on any particular color combo. If you would have found a red or black one with all the mods with the great history, you obviously would have bought it. My point is if you are really picky about colors, and you find one that meets all your criteria, you might as well buy it, even if its a little more money than you want to spend, especially considering the low production numbers of these vehicles.

Those seats look better than the 2013 w/28K miles on it, that I just closed on.

Given condition, color you want, maintenance completed., etc. I'd pull the trigger. I assume you already pulled service records from lexus.com.

It's a long story, but we ended up buying a different truck locally here in Denver tonight. I did however get the dealer to negotiate on this truck to a truly smoking price because they are sending it to auction on Monday. If you happen to be interested in this 200, PM me and I'll put you in touch with the sales manager I've been working with. I don't want to post the link because I don't know if they'd offer the same price publicly, but if you have any interest I'll send you the link and get you over to the guy I worked with who was truly awesome and helpful.

So what did you buy? ;-) 200?

I hate to admit it, but she chose a Yukon Denali  I think the long distance part of it was the deal breaker which is unfortunate since I've done a few deals that way which have worked out well. I'll be honest though after driving the Denali it is well equipped for the money and is surprisingly quick for the weight. I'm extremely bummed we didn't get this 200 though because I think it is an excellent vehicle with impeccable history.
