I need to replace my belts and the dealer wants ~$100 for all of them. I know there has to be a better deal out there for them. Anyone have any recommendations in this department?

check Ebay, sometimes there is an entire tune-up kit with belts for a resonable $$$$.

Give C-Dan at American Toyota a call. His contact info is a sticky in the vendors section.

That is crazy money for the belts. Maybe that's installed. NAPA has them, and they are excellent quality Gates belts, but I agree you can't go wrong with OEM Toyota belts form Cruiserdan. I think they are $10-$15 each.

Thanks, I will check with Cruiserdan and go with the Gates belts at Napa if that doesn't work out.

Yeah, the $100 is just for the parts.

oem only!!
this is an area where you dont skimp
hammer

there is a little shop just outside of the town of Copan Ruinas in Honduras. Near the Guatemalan border. A few years ago they had belts for a 2F.
I don't recall the price... but I was so damn happy that they had the belts at all that I would have paid nearly anything....

I have used Gates belts for ever. They are just as good or better then OEM. NAPA is probably the best source for Gates belts and AutoZone is probably the worst. I broke a belt east of Albq. one summer on my 60, the only place I could find the right width was NAPA. AutoZone kept trying to sell me this tiny little belt because it was what the computer showed. They didnt seem to have a way to cross reference my Gates number

Avoid the Autozone belts unless it's some sort of emergency situation. It will probably only last long enough to find an OEM belt, anyway.

My A/C belt went out in the summer. Bought one at Autozone (only place that had one in stock), then ordered one at the stealership. Few days later, went to dealership to pick up new set of belts and the autozone belt failed on the ride home, taking out another belt with it.

I got Gates belts this summer at both NAPA and OReilly. OReilly had the right width in their heavy truck dept. He told me that the big belt was the same as a Ford schoolbus. He may be on crack.

Think I paid $19 for 1 and $16 for the other.

Nope, not on crack. Thats why its difficult to find Cruiser belts at Autozone, Checker and others. They use the wider truck series belts. They used to be in the 9000 when I was a counterman but have since changed numbers IIRC.

hey, sandcruiser, I was at the Copan ruins several y ago, man, spectacular.
there was a recent lengthy thread about a long cross USA trip, and how to prepare for 3000m with truckstops, gas stations, and autozones about every 20m
I'd love to hear what you pack driving cross country in Central America

Napa belts(gates) are the best aftermarket I have found, and I like them better than the OEM, but its a matter of price and the fact the dealers have to order everything landcruiser related around here...

As for Gates belt quality, they are run on the SCORE off road race class 1 car I pit for...

NAPA belts

Note about NAPA belts:
I like NAPA belts. I think they are the best quality----period. I run them on everyting I drive. However, and I believe it has been posted before, that there is a small issue with the belt listed as fitting the PS pump. The belt NAPA listed for this application is just a hair too short, and a pain in the a$$ to put on. Putting on all the belts takes me about 20 min, and after about an hour of strugging with the PS belt, I put the old one back on. I just ordered the OEM for the PS belt. The belts that NAPA lists for the other belts fit perfectly.
