So my windshield just popped, there was no star in the glass, no chips, I came out and it looked like someone hit it with a hammer. I just replaced it about a year ago with "Professional Auto Glass" and they said a windshield can pop like that.

So my question is, have you had good experiences with local windshield guys? Is there a difference in glass quality? I'm hesitant to go with these guys again, they were the cheapest by $100 but I wonder if it's because of their low quality?

I have also used Royal auto glass for my pickup. They discounted their price when I brought the vehicle to them as opposed to a remote unit coming to me. That was over 5 years ago and the windshield is holding up well. As long as they are putting in PPG or another quality windshield it should not matter where you get the work done.

Thanks guys, I ended up going with Royal Glass, they're coming out tomorrow. They originally quoted me around $240, but I told them a competitor offered $166 with mobile installation, and they matched it. Not too bad, plus their warranty is much better than the other guys.
