a pulley ( snatch block) cuts the job of the winch by multiplying the mechanical advantage by 2:1. If you have the line length and 2 pulleys you can get the advantage up to 3:1 or even 4:1 if you set it up right.

When we showed up, they said that an even happened the weekend before and that they tore the trails up and they weren't sure how different everything was. I asked them if it was The Great American Crawl, and dude at the counter said "No, some veteran thing."

Turns out I was half right, Great american crawl partnered with a veterans group for this event and they were out there. They made two cool videos, and you can see a lot of the obstacles we hit. Granted, the obstacles look way different when everyone has 40s, (tires, 40" tires, not FJ40s) In the second vid, you can see where we dropped into cripple creek and thats where @CrabCake broke his ring/pinion.

Jump to 18 min mark and you'll see that fun drop in we all did, then the next big bolder they hit, you can see the exit we all had to winch out of lol

Help me write a summary of our trip! If you went, please reply with any highlights, funny stories, or interesting GER elements that you think I should include in a story about the GER excursion. If you have good photos, send your favorites to me by email at lathrop.kevin1@gmail.com. I know we have some great shots in this thread, but they aren't high resolution enough for print publication. I may reach out to you individually to send me specific shots form on here, but being proactive is okay too!

I'm going through my pics now and will send you my favorites.

I'll also write a few words about the trip that you can edit or throw into the article as well.
