ok, now its question time!

1. What other PM's should I do right now?

2. For those that have done the pump seal, where did you manage to find a torque wrench that goes up to 310ft/lbs?

3. I'm assuming the only way to break the bolt free is to put the wrench/breaker bar under the pass. frame and bump the starter? That just sounds scarey to me

4. Would it be ok to use the impact screwdriver set (the one you have to hit with a hammer) to break the phillip screws free? Dont want to break them...

As far as torqueing the bolt down, i'm going to try and build a tool that will hold the pulley in place while I turn the bolt. There's a few in the faq thread...

and Jack, let me know if you still have your FSM, i will gladly buy that from you too cause ive been meaning to get one! I'll hold off on ordering the seal and other parts just in case you have them at home. Let me know if you do and i'll swing by with some cash.

Thanks!

A SALE :eek::eek:

Looking forward to seeing what you might have that I can use :hhmm:

Matt,

are you going to just do all the work yourself in replacing parts and then take it in to have the body work done? Looks like you have made some good progress getting things done on it.

Jon

I do still have the FSM, rear axle tool, front axle socket, assorted gaskets, FIPG (Toyota grey), rear control arms, and I'm sure some other things I am forgetting.

I will let everyone know.

ok, now its answer time!

1. What other PM's should I do right now?
valve cover, clean throttle body(egr), cap rotor plug wires (toyota stuff is better quality than aftermarket) hoses, phh, grease drive lines, fluids... and other stuff i forgot...

2. For those that have done the pump seal, where did you manage to find a torque wrench that goes up to 310ft/lbs?
didn't... air gun and locktight... been good for 70k miles in cathys...and about 30k on mine

3. I'm assuming the only way to break the bolt free is to put the wrench/breaker bar under the pass. frame and bump the starter? That just sounds scarey to me
it isn't just put the breaker bar on bungie cord it to the frame and hit the key... you have the radiator support out so its alot easier....

4. Would it be ok to use the impact screwdriver set (the one you have to hit with a hammer) to break the phillip screws free? Dont want to break them...
I used a 1/4 drive ratchet to remove them, just put the philips bits in and tapped them with a hammer then they all backed out took some work but didn't need an impact driver on either of my 80's...

relax its not that bad ......

make sure you check the cover for flatness and tighten it evenly... other than that getting the front crank seal out was more of a pain... both mine had the radiator support in and i was doing it from below you have it a little easier...

good luck

Ray

Hang in there Matt, YULE (Christmas humor) be back driving it in no time.

The CS bolt wasn't bad. I went to sears and bought a nice 3/4" breaker and some metric impacts at HF. Used the starter method to break it free.

Trying to make some progress on this thing.... BIG thanks to Ray (RAYJON) for all his help. Thank you jack for the oil pump goodies (and other parts) and thank you Will for letting me borrow the monster torque wrench!

some progress pics. Cleaned the pieces, sanded them, primed, sanded again, and waiting to add another coat of primer.

Looking good Matt, glad to hear the stuff is working for you, much better than it sitting in my garage, not being used.

Jack

Went over to Rays house this saturday and painted the front support, knocked out the fender dent, and worked on the fender flare. Thanks again Ray!!

been making some progress this past day putting it all back together. Im kinda slow, but I want to make sure everything is in order...

The AC condenser is from an older truck, so the newer 80 fittings are too big. If anyone has a friend that is parting out a truck (maybe 95-97) then let me know! I'm going to check the classifieds...
