Are there any 17inch Toyota wheels that fit?
42611-60450 - 17x8JJ.

In the EU, the first years came with 16" as stndrd, then a couple of years w 17", and the last 2-3 yrs with 18".

I'm with the crowd that likes the appearance of the 315/75 16". However from a performance perspective on a 100-Series platform with the paltry clearances we have between tire and steering knuckle and my distaste for wide wheel spacers the 285/75R18 has been a much better choice for me on and off road. But IMO this size just doesn't do it for me visually. Must be getting old

But, aside from just liking the 285/75R18 size better, for my uses, the Stoptech Big Brake Kit requires an 18" wheel, minimum, for clearances...so no going back to 16" even if I wanted to ;)

But you do pay a premium and suffer through significantly reduced selection in this size...no denying that!

It would be wrong of me to say that looks don't play a major part in my decision to go to 16 inch wheels. I like look of the 315's or even 295's.

I'm not a hardcore wheeler by any stretch of my imagination, but it's not a street rig either. I take my family camping and light wheeling, I climb Colorado 14ers (which have some great 4WD trails to access the trailheads), I flyfish the hard to access high country steams and lakes and occasionally take my dog on bird hunts. Plenty of that stuff can be done with a mostly-stock rig, so I have no shame in saying that even at this point in my life, looks still play a part in some of my mods. :meh:

I bought this rig to use it, so scratches and pinstripes are never a concern. They just enhance my poseur image! I'll try some more hardcore stuff this year and see what I learn and what I like, then I'll re-evaluate. This tire size decision has me stumped though. My 275/70's are almost brand new, so I'm not in any hurry to upsize, I just like the looks.

Fitting 2001 100 Series OEM rims to 2006 LX

I have been doing the same dilemma weeks ago, I like the 16" for wheeling, so, I ended buying an extra set of 2001 100 Series OEM rims, but today I fitted to my 2006 LX, and look like it fit, but i am not sure if they will work ok, there is just 1/2" between the rim and the caliper in the rear wheel, also the front wheel look with few room. See the picture below. I am wondering if the few space to the rear wheel, can affect the air ventilation to the rear brake or can cause any problem. This Is the same in the earliest LC100?

Rim 16"

Thanks

yes, the caliper and dust shield is very close on the OEM 16" wheel.

So, i understand that not problem at all?
Any idea why Toyota, moved to 17" and after to 18" on the 100's, there are any problems reported?

Thanks

I think Toyota moved to an 18" rim to keep up with competition and give the LC/LX an update. There are no reported issues of either OEM16-18" not clearing. Any 100 rim (regardless of year) will fit. A rim from 98 will fit on a 07 and vise versa. 17" rims were optional and very rare.

Thanks for the info, is peace to my mind :bounce:
now to fight with the TPMS

Haha, oh... I thought you were trying to get rid of the TPMS alert altogether. Some throw the sensors in a PVC container (hence bomb) kept at 40psi to keep the monitor happy.

How does the Toyota TPMS react when you air all your tires down? Can you disable the alert or is it flashing/beeping all the time till you air back up?
