May be a silly ? but I am curious what others think. I have an gm clutch and had pullled the inpsection cover to clean it and other than visual inspection of clutch operation it can go back on. The clutch seems a bit softer on engagement but there is no dust/debris and I depressed clutch with rod , trans in nuetral, and crawled under to spin disc and check for cracks, couldnt see much but looked intact and I could see the channels on the disc were still there, barely, maybe 1mm or so deep, dont recall how deep they are on a new disc. There is no clutch smell. I did notice the front seal of trans is weaping out the drain hole on the front bearing retainer, it could be soaking the pressure plate side of disc I guess ?
