Any updates Jesper?

And by the way...

Regarding what we said about 4x4WORLD.com.au here:

...4x4 World in Australia are great to deal with from my experience too. (I ordered a "wheelbearing nuts/tab-washer set" from them just before Xmas. The package hasn't arrived so I emailed them and this was their reply a short time later:

Tom,

Yes to confirm that this has been shipped. It was sent out on the 02/01/2014 (when we returned from our Christmas break).

We would have expected you to have this by now. We will resend you another kit, but this time via registered international post so we can track it. You should have it by the end of next week.

We apologise for any inconvenience and If there are any other issues or if there is anything else we can help you with, please let us know.

How's that for good service?

.....
Regarding the service - they properly forgot to send you anything and then they seem like real nice people offering to send you the unit you already pay for :) sounds like a good service :)

Oh ye of little faith :D

Well this photo proves my confidence was warrented..

I eventually got TWO sets for the price of one and am still keen to pay for the seconds set because the shipping delay was due to the postal service and no fault of 4x4 World at all! (I've offered to pay for the second set but so far they refuse to let me, suggesting instead that I simply remember them for my next purchase...)

They ship to me using ordinary Australia-Post/NZ-Post and I appreciate this because of the extremely low cost (and I plan my work well in advance so delivery hiccups seldom represent a problem). However these postal services are in turmoil worldwide because of the massive dropoff in mail volumes. Hence delivery delays are constantly increasing. In this case 4x4 world's first nut/washer set was shipped 2/1/2014 but didn't arrive here till 21/1/2014. And their replacement package (because we both assumed the first was lost) was sent 22/1/2014 (registered post this time) and didn't arrive here till 30/1/2014.

Just wanted to set the record straight because I think they deserve my praise!

Sorry to hear that Jesper. I hope you all recover ASAP..

Back on the subject of your preheat system......
If, at full glow, your busbar voltage has settled around 8.5V, then I'm leaning towards just accepting that your glow controller glows more brightly than most..

That is, maybe you should just leave everything alone now and see how it behaves over time.

At least you'll find it very easy to see when it's time to start cranking. (In bright sunshine sometimes I have to shield my controller with my hand to better see my glow.) And you can always crank earlier (to prevent the controller getting that bright) provided your engine still starts well doing that...

Thank you… today I left the bed! finally…

I measured the black wire to 10 volt

the black/yellow 8,5 volt

Okay... So putting those values on my BJ40 wiring diagram we get this this:

And that doesn't look at all abnormal to me..

So maybe we just accept you've got a brightly glowing controller?

Does anyone else out there have a 12V HJ45? And if so, can you post a pic of your controller at full glow?

PS. If you're still worried, then maybe you should post a separate thread appealing to other owners of 12V HJ45 models Jesper (to see if anyone will show you how brightly their controller glows).

no it look like it is working fine. The truck starts. I have the gas pedal halfway down during start and it starts with a small portion of black smoke followed of white smoke for a couple of moments. When it warms up it goes away. But i smokes more than i like, but it is a old worn engine.

Definitely hard to own vehicles like ours in modern living arrangements where there's no space between dwellings.... :D

"Clean burning" with these engines is only approached when your cylinders, head, and coolant have all warmed up somewhat towards operating temperatures.

(Our engines predate modern-level-concerns over air quality.)
