This might end up being the shortest thread ever.

How do you get to the glove box bulb? 2015 LC. I think it actually gets darker when its on.

Remove the:
Head unit Passenger side knee pad
Wood trim above glove box
Passenger side molding around the head unit (the silver trim stuff)
Passenger side lower molding (trim around the air bag)
Passenger side shin air bag (disconnect the battery, don’t want that thing exploding on you)
Glove box

Now you have access to the little bulb. It’s not really that bad, I replaced mine with a Putco LED and it’s so bright in my glove box, I can see my floor board when the glove box is open.

You can see the bulb just sitting there thru the side of the glovebox. Crazy that you cant just pull it. Thanks for explaining the process though.

One question... What's the Head unit Passenger side knee pad?

So.... how much isa that gonna cost ya at the dealer ?

0.00 because I'm doing it myself or not at all! Plus I have leftover #74 leds from led conversations on other vehicles.

Just out of reach. Unless someone knows a trick.

also, I assume the padded thing is the knee pad. How is it attached? Same with the silver trim.

It’s just clipped on. Simply pry it off.
Forgot about the wood trim above the glove box, that comes off before the silver side piece that is under the knee pad.

also, while you are on the way to the glove box light, remove the driver side pad and silver trim, then you have access to the ash tray bulb.

and... if you want to go deeper, then remove the center console cover, and the shifter plate light is also a 74.

Just curious... How long did it take you to change the glove box bulb? Ash tray? Doesnt sound too hard.

Start to finish was under 21 minutes. My son was 2 years old at the time, and that was the length of the show I put on to distract him while I swapped out the bulbs.

@Taco2Cruiser - Tried to DM you but didnt go thru. Do the Putco 74 LEDs have polarity issues? The 74's I have (from superbrightleds) only light up if put in correctly. I really dont want to put one in, put it back together and then find the bulb is in backwards! Would I be able to plug the airbag back in and connect the battery without putting everything back together?

Not sure on yours, but the wood trim didn't need to come off my '13 cruiser to remove the glove box - but maybe you are saying to get to the bulb for the ashtray. It is a quick job once you know where the fasteners are. Those pads pop right off.

Are the pads the airbags like on a steering wheel?

OK. I'm stuck. Got as far as the passenger shin trim and airbag. Small front clips came out easily but something else is holding the trim piece and maybe the airbag on very solidly. Whats the secret for getting it out? I dont want to break anything, so want to just use brute force and regret it. It looks like there's two wide tabs that need to be pushed up from underneath, and a metal bracket underneath. Help!

Up to this point you guy were very accurate and it was pretty easy. Thanks for the help.

Mostly successful. Got the bulb in, wrong polarity but caught it before I put everything back together. Great tip from @bloc to just support the airbag rather than unplug. I put it all back together and then realized that I needed to keep the silver trim off to get to the ashtray bulb from the driver side. Will get back to that at some point. As small as that ashtray is, a brighter bulb will only remind me how small it is.

HOWEVER, when I got it all back together I found this bolt on the floor. Anybody recognize it? Dont want to pull everything apart just for one bolt that may be unimportant or might not even be from the glove box area.

All 4 airbag bolts (black in color) accounted for. All the trim screws are phillips head/self tapping 10mm bolts. The light fixture is held in the glove box by phillips screws.

Now that I'm thinking about it, this could be a left over bolt from when the dealer recently did the passenger seat belt recall. Good thing I never ride in the passenger seat.

Yes, four of them hold the glovebox in. Four black colored bolts hold the airbag.

Maybe behind the knee pad holding the silver plastic part on.. it’s been a while since I had mine apart.

One thing I did while glovebox light was apart was wrap the little bulb housing in some foil tape for additional reflection/brightness. Since you are only getting light from the side of the bulb, and LEDs mainly shine from the end in typical configuration, it helps.
