I have a big problem on gearbox and t-case of my 1992 HZJ 73: everything should be serviced, the bearings substituted and the shafts are also so ruined.

All the work would take not less than 2000 € and I'm not so sure about a good result...

So, anybody knows from wich model I can take a gearbox-Tcase compatible with mine? I'm quite sure that HJ 61's is not not...here in Italy we have only a few HZJs and is quite impossible to find another gearbox.

How much would it cost overthere in the USA?

Thanx for your help!

Francesco

contact ENS in Saskatchewan Canada for a brand new one or get them to rebuild it...
mind you , you should be order one from your local Toyota stealership...

The 61 wont work,it has a different spline count.

The USA probably has less 1HZ than Italy.
Have you tried France or Germany? I think there is plenty of HZJ75 in Germany.
The kits are not too expensive and the shafts are cheaper these days on Australian ebay.
They cost about $2250-$2800AUD for a rebuilt exchange gearbox and t/case in Australia.
My mechanic charged me $1800 for the gearbox $350 labour for removal/installation and $50 oil

A brand new gearbox by Toyota is available also in Italy, but it would cost not less than 7000 €!

I tried in the US becouse I saw a lot of sellers of used and restored parts... (I sent an email to GS cruiser parts).

Tha trany input shaft from HJ 61 has 10 splines and mine has 21 splines; this wouldn't be a big problem (I could just use a HJ 61 clutch) the problem are the dimension of the shaft's parts, expecially that little cylinder that goes into the flywheel's bearing.

Thats the difference in the two shafts. The splines and the length of the shaft. HJ 75 2h diesel, 2f petrol an 1HZ.
