The other day I was doing a little bit of maintenance on my recently aquired bj70. When I checked the fluid levels in the transmission it puked oil out. I seem to recall reading that high fluid levels in the tranny is a sign that the transmission/transfer case seal is shot. I also recall reading about a temp fix that involved drilling a vent in the fill plug of both the transmission and transfer case and connecting the two with some pvc tube to permit drainage from the transmission to the transfer case, thus putting off the need to fix the seal. Does this sound reasonable?

I have 369000km on the odo and I can see myself in the same situation.Anyone had issues with this hose going back to the t/c?
I just see that it is just something else there to leak, but hell is a quick and cheap fix after all...and it works!

go to a local hyd. shop...bring one of the fill plugs with you..tell them you want jic fitting that has the same thread on one end and the jic flare on the other end( get 90 degree fitting )...put one in tran filler hole , one in x-fer case hole and connect with appropriate hyd hose.....maybe $50.00 ....but beats the hell out of rebuild or hose with clamps on it.

Hi All:

Like "FJBJ40" said, just go down to the local hydralic supply shop with a fill plug in hand. That is what I did some years ago for my 40 Series; used high temperature resistent hose so I would not have to worry about the heat of the exhaust right by it.
