gear shifter

Hi guys,

My gear shifter won't go from 'P' to any other gear unless
I press the 'over ride' button.
Only started doing that today, and after I stopped at a gas station and then tried to select a gear to drive off.
Has been going from 'P' to other gears just fine until today.
Any ideas?

Usually caused by failed stop lamp fuse.

Most popular cause of blown fuse is either bad tail lamps or bad trailer wiring adapter.

Got my trusted assistant to help me, and it appears I have no rear brake lights.

I changed the fuse, and it still won't shift.
Bulbs next I guess........................

Yes there is trailer wiring wrapped around the trailer hitch.

When you inspect your tail lamp bulbs, you may wish to disconnect your trailer wires, or at least inspect the converter box to see if it has signs of internal melting.

In my experience, the trailer wire converter failure often causes the fuse to blow.

If you have a volt meter, you should check to make sure there's 12v on both tabs of the stop lamp fuse
