gas mileage drop

I've had a noticable drop in mileage, and looking around the the forums it seems that there are a bunch of other canadians that have had problems lately with lowering mileage, I've heard that there has been a lowering of the sulfer levels. any thoughts?
 
I have owned this truck for four years and I have kept track of the mileage religiously. I can say I have never seen a sustained drop in mileage like this.

I changing my air filter as soon as I purchase a couple of K&N filters.

You might as well just duct tape some fly screen over the intake, it's cheaper and filters about as well as a K&N. :cool:

Lower temps

Another thing to consider is that the volume of fuel decreases in the winter, I used to run a fuel farm and the volume of the tanks would change wit the temp. We would take a temp reading when we measured the tanks and always convert the to a 60 deg volume. So if you take fuel out of the ground say at 60 deg and it is 30 deg, outside the amount of fuel in your tank shrinks even with out useage. In the summer the volume increases in your fuel tank. So they use a 60 deg mark for BTUs and volume as a standard mark and your power increase below that mark and decreases above it with these low effecent engines IMO.

Myrle you brought some joy today.Good on Ya!. Dam I cracked up reading this as it reminded me when we used to go and get dry ice to put in the air boxes to get a few more horses out of the V8s on a hot Friday and Saturday night during some not so bright activities , way back when. LOL. dam V8s, burnt rubber and racing fuel.:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :D
 
I definatly noticed an increase in fuel consumtion when they took the sulphur out of our diesel in New Zealand over Christmas new year '05-'06 (middle of summer down here) I used to get up to 600km to a tank, now lucky to get 530km:frown: Power is down slightly too. Does anyone know of any additives I can add to replace what is missing in the fuel?
