Has anyone removed the flares and body cladding from a LX450? How is the cladding attached?
beno said:IIRC, the flares are the same as the LC.
The flares are held on but plastic and metal rivet-like metal pieces that bolt through the body from inside of the body.
I just tore them off with brute force, drilled out the rivets and die grinded some of them off and welded in the holes.
It is also adhered.cruiserman said:Thanks. I figured the cladding was adhered but wasn't sure. Not worth it then.
Just to add one more difference that wasn't specifically mentioned earlier: In addition to the windshield being a different tint (bronze on the LX vs blue on the LC), the rest of the glass is the same. And (at least according to Safelite), the bronze door glass is NOT available aftermarket and must be ordered from the Lexus dealership. Their database incorrectly lists the blue tint for the LX doors, but does have the bronze for the windshield.
As a note, both rear sliding windows on my LX open.
