Another bump for this issue...drove from Grand Junction to Los Angeles yesterday and never could get my right leg comforatble...the shifter issue needs to be fixed..any idaes on how to remove it so I can try other shifters?? what supra shifter might work and the RAZO link is dead beyond the refernce..Thanks guys,,

Yeah I have the LT extensions on and it is still a big problem for me too!

I want to see some pics of other shifters that 80 owners have installed!....anyone????

I'm 6' and had the same problem. I just installed LandTank's seat rail extentions over the weekend and this took care of the problem 100%. It's night and day how much more leg room I have now and my knee never comes near the shifter now. The best $100 I've ever spent on my 80.

yes, took car of my issue too. Im 6'2" and it bothered me to no end. Nice to be able to sit back and let your knees come down and avoid that darn button. No more kicking off OD inadvertently.

Yeah I have the LT extensions but that doesn't fix it for me! Don't get me wrong it did help but not completely...now the shifter hits 2"s farther down my leg!:frown:

anyone ever pull the shifter?? I don't see how it is attached??? are there bolts or something under whats left of the leather??

2 screws on forward part of shifter

i was thinking would a shifter from a aus spec rhd fit on?

Do the 93-97 have less room up front compared to my 92??? I am 6'7 and weigh about 295.... i've driven it across the country from one ocean to the other and never had a problem with that.

I have had 91's all the way up to 97's and I have always had this prob! If the shifter was up 2"s higher or 2"s lower it wouldn't bother me either but it might be in your way then. Your not the first 6'7"ish guy to tell me that it doesn't bother them. It's kinda odd though that it wouldn't!:hhmm: I think it just has a lot to do with the build of each person...i.e. Length/size of legs/torso/a$$...ect.:meh:

You just have short legs. :flipoff2: ;)

I'm not sure, but does yours have the manual-sliding seats or the powered ones? I've read that the latter do not slide back as far as the manual seats.

If yours has the powered seats, well then...

I have had cloth, leather, power and manual and it doesn't matter all of them stab my leg!

I spoke with Roger at SOR the other day and he checked it all out and said if we tear it down far enough we can just turn the stock shifter around! I hope to have time this week end to do that. And yes I will take pics and notes as I go! :D

Subscribed.

Here is the exploded view of the shifter. The conclusion that Roger and I came to was that "hopefully" we can take part #418 out and turn it around. The handle should be able to be reattached with the buttons pointed to the PS. I'm sure it will be easier said than done!

I have a 97LX and I have never hit the OD button on the shifter and I'm 6'5", but I like the LT seat track extension brkt idea.
