Maybe it was the R/LJ77? Light duty front end but the rest of the body is identical to the HZJ77.

A wrecker going out of business? Gotta tell me about that ;)

Dave

Uhh, look again, Wayne. It's LHD...

LHD = non JDM

light duty J78 are JDM specific, everywhere else they are J77.

Been reading that 50th Anniversary Book again? ;)

mmm Im getting confused ,I got to get the video player back.

The wrecker died from lack of good 75 series stock which is a common problem for the smaller independants.
He had a least 20 complete 75 series but there was barely a decent part on any of them.
Ive never seen 1HZ motors rust away from the outside before.

Ex-mine trucks? There were some pics mot posted a while ago of some 1HD-T engines in Japan that have been sitting outside and they were pretty rusted out.

 Wayne. Post up some pics of the LJ71 and LJ78's you are getting.

Dave

I never liked that front end. I was dissapointed to find that my German spec LJ73 was like that but not so much that I didn't buy it anyway. I'd like to see a 4 door HZJ78c/w the traditional 70 series front end.

Since its Christmas here's the last pic I took of Pepe

for pics of a real sweet LJ71 i have in the yard now...
just unbelievable shape.
cheers

I saw a '89 LJ70 at an auction a few weeks ago. that thing had something like 350000 kms, the frame had just a bit of surface rust, but the body and interior were absolutely perfect, just like out of the factory new  I wish it had gone for less, I'd have bought it :o The guy that bought it still made a bargain :)
Anyway, I'll stick with my POS RHD '88. BTW Wayne, do your VX LJ71s have suspension seats ? my VX 70 doesn't have them, and I have a friend who has an LX (supposedly lower trim) that has (had) them. I can't figure this out

i have never been able to understnad the suspension seat, why some have them and some don't. some of the BJ74s come sith them but in all the LJ71s i have brought in i have had only one with suspension seats... go figure.

Same story in oz,I think it must have been purely an optional item available on any cruiser.
I dont think it was a cheap option either
Most of the one Ive seen are in the 61,62 series Saharas .

Do they always come in pairs or is it usually the drivers seat only?

Some of the Canadian BJ70s came with the suspension seats as well. I remember riding in Sheldon's 70 a few times and dialing in my weight on the seat and enjoying the soft ride it provides over a bumpy gravel road. I wish my 74 had them right now...

Yup, all Canadian spec BJ70s had them and no N.A. *J60s did.

When I saw the first JDM HJ61 that LostGuide brought in I was amazed to see the suspension seats in a 60. Later I was surprized to see that many of the JDM *J7* stuff did not have them.

On thing about Toyota, they always keep the enthusiasts guessing.

i just got a 89 BJ74 off the train and surprise, surprise, this one has suspension seats... too bad it is sold. i might have kept this one...
Nah, i would have just beat it up... only junkers for me...
cheers
