Driving over big rocks, it is not uncommon to set my rig down on a boulder under the muffler with its large size and minimal clearance. The exhaust system ends up supporting a large portion of the vehicle weight. The result is a busted hanger, the one directly aft of the muffler.

Other than keeping a box of hangers on hand (or learning to drive off road)... does anyone have a solution?
Any one even had this problem? Seems a hanger redesign is called for, perhaps a slimmer muffler.

After replacing the hangers a couple of times for me, the muffler shop put in a muffler with a smaller diameter. It helps but has not eliminated the problem.

Smaller diameter muffler in my case. I have still hit it though but not as hard or often.
