BTW I dont know where to post this. So Mods please move the thread if needed. Thx
Anyways I was looking at a LX in Tampa for what looked to be a great car with $178.8k miles. The Autocheck said it didnt have any accidents. Which was good. Then I called the Lexus dealership in Tampa to get a report on the car. I could not get the carfax for the car. Almost all of the of the service was done at the dealership which was great. Most things looked great for the car. We agreed on a price of $8700 for it. But then 2 things stood out from the dealership report.
1st - There was a noise(thumping form the engine) that the original owner was trying to get but the dealership could never find out. It started at around 140k miles and stayed till the end as the dealer could not duplicated the issue. (which i think might not be too bad)
2nd - was A/C was having issues as the last record of the dealership said after a leak/dye test, that they found the leak to be from the evaporator. which was at 175.5k miles. The dealership gave a quote of $2400 for this repair.
When asked the dealer says that the AC obviously works cold. So the Freon must have been filled to do that. And the dealer said its likely been fixed. Obviously within 2.5k miles from the dealership last record and now its highly unlikely that expensive repair would be made and then sold. I said I will only give if I am sure he can find an AC receipt.
Anyways for those who need a reference here is the dealer info. I have asked the dealer to give another $1000($7700) off but its not likely he will do that. BTW this car is at Manheim Auction as "AS IS" as well. Kinda give it away. So be careful. I have the full report from lexus if anyone needs it and are looking to buy it. Just hit me up.
Also 1 other thing that kinda bugged me. The front profile of the car. U can see the hood has a larger gap between it and the lights. Which is odd i though. But just that its just me. Look at the pics yourself.
2001 Lexus Lx 470 4WD 4dr SUV In Tampa FL - TAMPA MOTORS - VIN. jtjht00w213510510.
I hope this knowledge is helpful to someone who is looking at this very car. BTW I am not trying for the dealer not to sell this car.. I just want the dealer to be forthcoming with this info. Which he may have not known till i told him about the report.
