I know the truck is on a lift so I can't guage how flat the trac bar is. I would have relocated it if it interferes w/ the steering in any way. I had to swap my trac bar mounting to the other side & let the frame mount be on the pass. side as it was the only way it would work. It mounted to the axle right inside the driver coil mount. Good luck w/ those knuckles, I would've done the 6 stud route or 60 outers before I tried it w/ the stockers :D

In a perfect world, we would have done it. But we did not have the time.

As for 6 stud knuckles, you do know this is a 80 series axle and not a mini truck? As for 60 outers, I am assuming you are referring to a Dana 60, yes that would have been nice as well, but we wanted to see how far we can push the 80 setup.

In my head it sounded like he meant 60 series outters and to use the 6 shooter knuckles with them.

Nope, not even close :hillbilly:

 Forgot the DANA part :D

Yeah, I guess I wouldn't throw any more $$$ into that front w/ an 8" ring gear

I do not believe 60 series knuckles with 6 shooter knuckles would be stronger than the double shear with 4 studs on the bottom and 3 on top. The 80 knuckles are also bigger than 60 knuckles.

I never said they were. I thought thats what LC Ham was talkign about.

I like to see Toyota axles pushed and I am glad you kept the stock axle under there.

Have there been much failures with it? Besides the Ring Gear?

Would you say that that limit has been reached yet, or is there still room to push in your opinion?

I am pretty happy with the outers, but the ring and pinion is another matter. In the 100 series SAS we used the same outer configuration (hydro assist not full hydro) with a 80 series rear diff. That gives you more beef. That said this jackass broke two ring and pinions trying to jump a 7400lb truck up ledges.

I was just commenting on LC_Hamma as well. If he meant 60 series vs Dana 60 then I just wanted to explain our logic, or lack thereof. :D

In the shortbus I have only broken 1 R&P about a year ago and that was backing up winching and towing a dead tacoma up a slope. The outers have held pretty good. Newfield HD birfs and inner axles. Haven't broken any of those.
