Start of the moab recap!
I got into moab around 6ish and after settling into camp, we all got antsy and decided that cliffhanger would be a good way to start the trip. Last time I did this trail I was on 35s with a 2” lift. How linked on 37s…. It didn’t seem to be much easier. Some spots have gotten super chewed up and it’s just gotten bigger. We didn’t hit the last obstacle because the 2nd to last one was a weird technical rocky section that one friend in a long travel 1st gen Tacoma broke a cv on, a 100 series on 37s smashed his front bumper so hard that it bent the quarter panel, and a 2nd gen Tacoma on 37s with no front locker took a couple tries to get up. By the time we were all up, it was dark, and we decided that we were all tired and hungry. Soooooo on the way back home I took a bad line and smashed my gas tank! I was kind of blown away, after 6 years of wheeling 80 I finally dented it in🤦🏻‍♂️. The two climbs out took a bit to get everybody up, I think two cars had to winch???? Idk I was hungry and tired… we had tacos that night

I didn’t weld a reinforcement in because the sunroof didn’t have any. It seems to be sturdier than before. If you want to walk on the roof I’d weld one in though. I stepped on it and it did oil can down but it popped out once I stepped off

Awesome filler plate. As an anti-sunroof'ist, I plan on doing this to my 100 series. Oil-canning was a concern as this occurred on my sunroof delete
one of my race cars years back. Since it was more a function of massive weight reduction and less of form, I got over it. In this case, I'd want it to look "factory'ish". I'll most likely add in some angle steel under the panel to reinforce it.

I've done a few Porsche interior restorations. Headliners in the 993 are about as difficult as it gets. So I'd feel comfortable re-lining the stock headliner card. Pull the existing fabric, Permanently fasten the existing shade panel in the sunroof hole, and re-line the card with a foam-backed fabric.

I’m happy with how it all turned out! It was surprisingly quick too! Keep me posted on how you fasten the shade panel into the sunroof…. I still haven’t put mine back
