Fuel tank skid plate?

I think scottm did a whole write up with pics about how he removed his skid plate using ratchet straps to hold up the tank while he removed the skid plate to refinish it. Apparently the steel straps that hold the skid plate are the same ones that hold the tank up.
is scottm his actual username? I'd love to read his write-up....

Fireball, I think BudBuilt in NC was thinking of building a full set of plates but needed someone to be able to leave their truck with them for 2 weeks for the initial measurements and to come back in a few weeks for a test fitting / adjustments (also needing 1-2 weeks). I'm in NC but only have my LC and need it for my commute.

So if anyone could do it, it would be awesome! Potentially if I going to head out of the country for work I might drop off my truck with them to do a test fitting. I'm in the same boat, nearly 40% of the skid has rotted away.

Anyone ever start making a proper skid plate for the tank?

The 2016 VOT was not kind to the underside of my Hundy!

Looking for a better solution for a tank protector. Aluminium or fibreglass - what woul be better? Would alu cause any extra corrosion?

btw, that French site mentioned above here: Looks like it is an extra tank skid, and only for installing together with their transfer case skid plate.
