I have an 05 LX and the fuel tank skid has rotten away. Finding an OEM replacement is 500-700 right now. I've looked at used but none are in my area (Philadelphia PA). So what is everyone doing to upgrade their fuel tank skids?

Nothing. Oem is the only option.

Has anyone replaced the fuel tank skid plate yet? Any thoughts on where to find used? How difficult is it? Mine is rusty and I think beyond salvaging. Thanks in advance.
I replaced mine a couple of years ago. There's a good write up on here - it's not difficult, just use straps to hold the tank in place while you replace the skid.

I got a skid plate and gas tank in fairly good shape for $250 shipped, out of Wisconsin. Had some rust, but wasn’t a pile of rust like mine. Wire wheel, Correseal, rust proofing primer, rust prevention paint, and bed liner made the setup like brand new. Now to find the time to install it

None of the after market skid plates protect the gas tank?
I don't know that any of the aftermarket solution are meant to replace the OEM skid as it literally holds the tank in place. I *think* all the aftermarket plates simply add more protection.

I have full aftermarket skids and my friend has a full set also from a different brand than mine and none of them add any extra protection to the gas tank
Off topic, but what brand do you have and what brand does your friend have? Do you like yours or theirs better?

Does this replace the factory steel fuel tank guard, or does it go over it?
Only for the lx? Can it apply or be tweaked for a lc?

Can't say for sure as we've only test-fitted it for the 04'.
The way we work is we only state a product fits is if we have tested it for a 100% fit.
As the LX's model years cater to the same generation it is highly it would, but unfortunatelly can't guarantee (as of now).

We're going to be test-fitting it for an LC in hopefully a week or so, we'll for sure update afterwards.
With that, as the LX470 and LC100 are the same platform we have a reason to believe it'll fit, but as I sasid to @Kabanstva here - we can't guarantee unless we've tried it (or got a solid feedback from a customer).
