I thought this might be helpful for someone out there. After my fuel tank rusted through while the truck was waiting to be loved again, I found that a fuel tank for an 83 was unobtainium. I found a 13.7 gallon tank listed for 1986-90 carb version pickups, and the measurements looked good, so I went for it. Fits like a glove. However, the 2 hose pickup for the outbound and return fuel lines was also nonexistent. I found a factory fuel suction pickup for 85-88 carb model and gave it a try. The pickup tubes were way too long, and it had a 3rd evap return line, which was redundant since the tank has one built in. Had to do some cutting, bending and tweaking, but it fits the flange perfectly and sits well in the tank. I plan on just soldering a cap on the extra evap tube and I think it will work. One thing to note, the cap has 5 holes for screws, and they only fit on there in one orientation. I found that out after bending the tubing to where I originally wanted..
